Review R1: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Collingwood

You just felt if he was near the contest he was getting the ball and it was coming out smoothly. Are we seeing what could have been if not for the multiple years of injury and interrupted preseason?

Milera is a completely different specimen this season. Tough, hard, courageous, but keeping the evasiveness and calmness and skills.

Bigman’s Training Reports (Update: 11th March)

Agree, like basketball, the key is to keep the ball in constant motion and not give the defence the opportunity to set. So whether it's up the line or cutting back in, it's about fast decision making to keep the ball moving.

What I'm getting at is Rankine and Tom Mcguane 20m sprint test are basically the same. 2.93 Mitch Stevens is even quicker at 2.88. Watching McGuane and Stevens play, I don't think you'd say speed are their weapons. Rankine's is clearly. So I don't think it's all in your 20m test result...

I am by no means saying he's slow. I'm just saying that testing isn't always an indication of actual game speed. Let's look at the 20m sprint which is what was being spoken about. This is the top 10 according to google. Fastest recorded times Joel Wilkinson: 2.75 seconds (2010) Jonathan...

It's not the speed, it's how you use it. There are plenty of dumb runners out there or guys who never have the creativity or courage to put their speed to use. Not saying Tom is one of these btw. I don't think from a pure testing perspective Rankine was uber quick from memory as an example.

Very good or elite? What I'm saying is you need elite to make up for the size. Parnell had pretty neat skills as well, especially by foot and you'd say he had decent speed and agility, but neither were elite level stuff. Rowell gets brought up sometimes at 180 and you can see his elite...

You absolutely can be small, but you need to have uber elite traits to make up for it. Watson, Betts have not just speed but elite agility and smarts on another level to make up for the small size. We seem to pick small guys with mediocre skills with no real elite traits at all. This is what...

If we are offering someone a last chance why not go for someone with a potentially really high ceiling?

Murphy did alot wrong but he did have a booming left boot (at one stage). Sounds much more like the new McHendry

Welcome Welcome to Adelaide - Mitch Marsh, Pick 22 2025

I think he's unfit looks to be too chubby still. If he can build fitness, he could be anything.

Nothing flashy, he just did all the basics really well.
