My response was to the idea that we shouldn't use indigenous words in football because we don't "need" to. We also don't "need" to name stadia after corporate entities, or play on cricket grounds, or use a rugby-shaped ball, or have a finals system, or play on weekends.
Saying it is unnecessary...
How on earth does that prove my guess is incorrect? It's been reported by a paywalled site with no details. No other AFL news source has thought to tell the story. The VFL club hasn't come out and said "We welcome former St Kilda champion Sam Fisher to our club for 2024".
You don't seriously...
No fan of the Blues, so I'd like to agree but I can't. They have a lot more top end talent than those North teams did - Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, Curnow, Cerra. And this was there first finals campaign, whereas those years were the peak for North after finishing 8th or 9th 2010-2013.
St Kilda is...
You forgot:
1909 - Geelong and St Kilda were second last and last respectively
1908 - I'm sure Hawthorn won whatever tinpot league they played in
1907 - port Adelaide lost the SAFL grandfinal
1906 - A WA team won the WAFL grandfinal
1905 - A WA team lost the WAFL grandfinal
