It was a blessing in disguise I think if 2020 didn’t happen we would be still trying to top up with cheap injured players from other clubs and trading out high draft picks from players like Wingard etc, trying to cheat the system.
It force our hand to do a go back to the draft and rebuild...
I may be wrong but I still think this kind of game plan would still work today but would have to be a a lot faster ball movement than we had back then lot faster.
I said it during trade week why I feel it was more to do with sentiment vibes and we gave up pick 39 in the trade which would have move up with academy kids etc.
Sounds like we only show up once the heat is out of the game like those end of season wins that seem to always take us away from those top end kids in the draft when the heat is out of the season.
Hodge did some good things in his first game against Richmond that slide where the Richmond play went over the top of him for example.
And a few goal assists.
Not sure about Chol I feel we wasted a draft pick, Ginnivan, D’Ambrosio are the type of players we should be targeting with draft picks players that could play 8/10 years and Watson I think Sanders would have offered something different in our midfield but happy with Watson so far.
This is the reason why I think the Rebuild only really started when Mitchell took over as before that it was a stuff up top up and has put us back years. But now one wants to know this on here.
