Some damn good footballers on that list. They nail more than not and have done since their first year. Fantastic eye for talent. Both GC and GWS have been forced to get rid of talent quick to stay under the salary cap as it got smaller and smaller. I guess that was the idea from the AFL that...
Pies are still thereabouts. Essendon are playing good footy. But they did last year as well up until about this point, then faded badly. Essendon have a very easy draw. So I'd expect them to make finals from here. Pies look a little shaky, but when it clicks they still look a top 2 team.
Bedford was a weird one for us. I think most of us could see strong potential there.
Like others have said, maybe it took the right coach to unlock the talent. They clearly play a more aggressive style now than under Cameron. But geeez they've had some top end talent on their list. Should have...
He does come across a weird unit.
The F50 is just so stagnant. No movement. Blame the mids all you like, but when the forwards aren't leading to the ball, then what option they got? The ball users have actually lowered their eyes more this season for sure. But our F50 is a dogs breakfast...
Clarry was solid. Better than Viney and Trac. His handballs seemed to be back to what we know and he moved better this week for sure. Still a few kicks that he does which doesn't give our forwards much chance, but good signs this week for sure.
Nailed their picks early days which has set them up to perpetually rotate good players in and out whether it's trade or reserves. You could make a Top 4 side from the players they've traded out. It's actually surprising they haven't won a flag already. Gold Coast look to be on that path finally...
The only thing stopping them from winning the flag is potentially running into a Carlton, Geelong or Collingwood on the MCG on the last day. The Melbourne curse on GF day is a real thing unfortunately for interstate teams. They are head and shoulders above every other side in talent.
That backline is an abomination. But no way they go winless. LDU will improve and Larkey will feast on an undermanned backline somewhere along the line. I haven't seen the fixture, but they'll probably snag a win or two in Tassie against like a WCE or Tigers.
Nor should they either with what they've been given. Nearly twice as much talent than any other side. Gold Coast won't be far behind. They have an incredible list build with many more coming through the academy. Both these plastic clubs gonna be hard to stop next 5 years or so. Then Tassie will...
Actually, watching the replay, Rivers was better than I thought. He's turned into a very reliable and solid player for us. Would love to see him get more midfield time though.
Lever - 4 (15 intercept possessions is pretty fn good)
May - 2
Gawn - 2
Koz - 2
Disco - 2
*apologies to Trent Rivers. Having a very consistent and under the radar season tbh.
