    Senior 18. Sam Walsh re-signs until 2034

Also, Walsh resigning is great news. And he’s the type of player that will take this into the season and help push him to new heights. The deal is a massive deal (likely the new normal) for the club, and Walsh will know the importance of that. He’s the kind that will want to repay the club for...

    Senior 18. Sam Walsh re-signs until 2034

I agree with the sentiment, but he did bring in Wright… I was once told that the most important thing for a manager to do was identify their successor and train them appropriately. We were all talking about out what a great get Cook was, remains to be seen how we will talk about Wright on the...

    List Mgmt. 2026 List Management

if you don’t think that twice say a player is s&$t without any other substantive discussion is name calling, then this probably won’t change your mind, but here goes: You’re saying that about a Carlton recruit. Who we brought in for basically nothing. A guy who was the dominant ruck the WAFL...

    List Mgmt. 2026 List Management

Why pick up the phone and ask the question when you know what the answer will be? Barrass was going to cost a lot of money and a lot of picks. We knew we had Dean coming the following year, and we were keen on HOF. So we would be looking at a KPF to bridge a gap for a few years - not someone...

Training 2026 Training - reports, pics etc

We’ve bemoaned our disposal efficiency for ages. Half of an effective disposal is in the receiving of it, and for years we’ve not positioned ourselves to either take it cleanly, or to not be under pressure as soon as we receive it. The contested style we’ve played relies on players being close...

Official Club Stuff Carlton Academy - Next Gen & Father/Son/Daughter Discussion II

I was thinking something similar, but really, it’s impossible to know a year out. Cochrane could get injured and miss the year, Cody could just overtake him, Port could end up with pick one and bid on Cody… he could go higher. Or, Cody doesn’t come on as much as predicted, or just gets...

Hot Topic Will Elijah Hollands get another gig at Carlton?

No point picking the best footballers if they spend most of the season away from the club. You can’t tell me the club hasn’t been trying to sort it out with him. But you can only help someone who wants to be helped. From the whispers, he’s had chances and blown them, and lost the trust of his...

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management III 📃

The good news is that we don’t need our draftees to step up immediately. We’ve also brought in Ainsworth, Hayward and Florent, all going to be best 23 players, and Chesser hasn’t been brought over to play 2s either. Reidy is the only one with question marks, but I’m sure it’s hoped that he can...

    Analysis 2025 Draft watch

Surprising number of academy bids not matched in this draft. For all of the doom and gloom about the trades we made, we were never in a position where we had to make a hard choice on Dean or Ison. St Kilda also got to match a late bid on an academy player, so maybe now their president can STFU...

    Analysis 2025 Draft watch

Except we wouldn’t have had a mid teens pick, and no one was interested in trading out of the first round next year. But other than that it would have been good.

    Analysis 2025 Draft watch

That was only an option if the bid came in around 7 or 8. As soon as the eagles planned to bid at 3, we would have only got back a pick in the late 20s. This way we got Dean, 2nds and 3rd.

    Analysis 2025 Draft watch

The only real solution I can see if to get rid of the discounts for academies and father sons. Having access to the player is reward enough - shouldn’t need a discount on the market rate. I’d imagine thats what the AFL is driving towards - cut it to 10% this year and abolish it in a few years...
