That’s the same thing I hear when Collingwood finish in the top 4. “Pies will be out in straight sets”
Unbelievably, Collingwood have not gone out in straight sets since 1988
They have made 11 prelims since 2002 and only twice since this time have they lost an EF. Pies similar to the Cats will...
Pies were 4 and 5 in 2022 and made the top 4…. What makes you think the reigning premiers are no chance having won their last 3 and now sit at 3 and 3…
I take it you didn’t watch Collingwood yesterday. If Geelong play Collingwood next week, Collingwood would win by 5-6 goals. Question is will Collingwood lose another game this season and make it back to back.
I was thinking similar to you. A bit like the game at Docklands in 2012 when Collingwood were 5-6 goals up early in the game and the margin never got back to within 3 goals after that. It won’t be like round 2 last year. Collingwood are playing nowhere near good enough for that to happen
O
Yep exactly. O’Bree was the other player who got dropped around the same time as the others. Jack Anthony who led the goal kicking in 2009 was dropped after round 2 and came back for one off games to fill a void in defence.
Elliott possibly better than last season as well. Apart from a good burst after the bye last year until the Pirt game, Elliott’s season was down on 2022.
When the game is tight, Sidebottom is still one of the best in the AFL at closing down contests and creating stoppages.
There are quite a few others who should be in line fir the chop before him
Maybe when we give up a 25 point lead during the final quarter against Carlton and cost ourselves a spot in the finals, then maybe Carlton are half way to emulating Collingwood.
One of those games where you probably shouldn’t over analyse. Swans did what they had to. Eagles battled hard. They played at an unknown ground. Swans are in contention this year and the Eagles are still a dog’s breakfast.
Ironically the only times in the last 40 years I can recall Collingwood having a mini period of dominance over the hawks were when Collingwood was a basket case!
1998 to 2000, 2004 to 2006 were ironically periods where the pies dominated the hawks! Pies were rubbish against just about every...
Although the pain of the 2018 GF loss disappeared after winning the flag last year (coupled with a wooden spoon from WCE), could you imagine the fallout at the eagles had Collingwood gone end to end in the last 45 secs of the GF after Darling dropped the easiest of uncontested marks in the goal...
