Pretty sure Port would have to match the exact terms of the contract. If it was heavily front loaded to 3-4m per year for a few years and then taper off etc they would need to have the means to match those terms. -

You're right, I can't. Port gave up their F1 in the JHF deal which is essentially a lottery pick. You can never guarantee where you will finish on the ladder - yes, that Port pick ended up pick 20 (after academy/FS) but they could have had a run of injuries and ended up giving up a top 5 pick...
