I'll preface this comment with "I'm a firm advocate of the 'do not play Shanahands down back' camp."
The only, ONLY reason I could stomach him playing down back, in a temporary measure, would be to expose him to another's forward craft. So playing defence to learn more about playing forward...
As a Giants fan, I'm stoked to get pick 10! Honestly thought it wouldn't happen before the draft, or if it did, because Giants accepted a worse pick.
Stoked!
I probably should say my comments are mostly from a "we have do many forward options, who's best suited to trying CHB" perspective.
He's definitely got something, I just think others have more up forward.
Many possibilities
If Jilliams comes on, he can be a chop out. He's shown more as a forward than A.Reid.
Another option is Bailey. The 2nd ruck doesn't need to be at first ruck level.
A third option is they're not currently on our list. Either it'd be younger player training up, or an...
Have they tried A.Reid down back in preseason and it didn't work or something? They seem willing to try every other forward down back but not Reid.
Given his bad the other options have been, I'd love to see him given a game there before being dropped. Jilliam's can come in forward for him if...
I don't think that'll be his style, players are already down.
More likely to attempt a reset. Scores back to 0. Tactics 1, 2, 3 for second half. Win the half.
I think Hewett is the "cherry on top" type. He's not going to do the Harley and carry the team on his shoulders. He's needs someone else to do the hard work and he'll be there for the next one... Which we don't have at WAFL.
I reckon he'll actually get a game soon and we'll see if this is true.
