    Assuming Butters leaves i feel like the best outcome for everyone is for Port to take the 1st rounder for butters and then to arrange a separate trade for us to send some more assets their way with a trade convoluted enough that is hard for the AFL to see the imbalance.

    The AFL won't allow a trade like that to go through. They have the ability to block trades that are structured like this as a way to facilitate other deals. We'd have to find some way to make it look more equal, but I do agree it would be silly but to find some way to incorporate free agency...
