Yes if this is going to work they need to be clunking marks left right and centre today. But It’s low percentage to expect your talls to mark enough bombs inside 50 to negate rebound off turnover… which is the number one metric the top teams all dominate in vs the lower sides

But then we get burnt the other way. We are the third worst team defending turnover behind WCE and North.

We’ve lost this at the selection table. Draper, Goldstein and Wright… they’ll run rings around us.

Agree. I’m concerned about what Shiel can provide once is athleticism declines…

Just don’t think we can have Draper, Wright and Goldstein against the best running side in the comp on the biggest ground. It’s just doesn’t make sense.

AFL Player # 8: Ben "Goblin" Hobbs

Agree, he just needs a point of difference and when he bobs up for an overhead mark in the forward 50 and kicks a goal or two I think that’s something unique to him that’s different to the typical in and under mid

AFL Player # 9: Dylan Shiel

No half cooked Shiel please. Had 20 to half time and finished with 24. Haven’t watched the game, maybe he got rested, but we have seen previously that when Shiel is not 100% physically he is a liability around the ground. Would rather stay with the current mix and give Shiel some more...

AFL Player # 2: Sam Draper

Can he be trusted to be the standalone no.1 ruck with other pinch hitting to support ie Rowan Marshall style? I’m not sure he can but needs more time.

Not a fan of the two rucks personally. The game is all about running power and we are not in a position to forfeit any of that with our lack of leg speed. I get with Reid and Wright out this may be different but if one of those return would like the 1 ruck

AFL Player # 3: Darcy Parish

I think we have to give him a bit of time to get back upto speed

    AFL Player # 5: Elijah Tsatas - Signs a two-year extension! - 22/2

Just want to see him consistently playing in the midfield. If that’s in the twos fine, but this: one week on the wing, one week 1 half VFL, one week on as the sub… hard to develop that way.

Analysis i've got a high tolerance for essendon being s**t, but this game was appalling

I love this club and every year we are sh!t will just make the eventual premiership even sicker… But it boggles my mind that we have missed the boat on drafting high level aerobic runners by about 10+ years… it blows my mind. Many of us have been begging for it to be a priority and only...

AFL Autopsy RND 4: Dons Demolished

We can’t defend transition, there’s been no improvement made. Funny, that Horne guy from champion data bangs on about it and says if you can’t defend and attack through transition/turnover respectively… you don’t have a shot at the premiership. And he’s right. That’s why you need A+ runners in...

AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (Vice-Captain)

Looks like he has that spring back in his legs. Maybe no more niggles. I dunno, he did have a number of annoying lower leg injuries for a while there. Could also be we are more organised defensively, so less often does he need to do the dump kicks etc… most likely a little bit of everything

    AFL Player # 5: Elijah Tsatas - Signs a two-year extension! - 22/2

Happy to be especiallly patient with him given his athleticism is a big part of his game and it has been hampered by continuous injury. He’s tracking well imo
