Follow up work post ruck contest is an underrated skill. His ability to crash bodies really helps our mids gain a yard of space. He seems to really enjoy the grunt work which is exactly what we need. Hoping it can continue!
He's already running. Hawthorn being ultra cautious but he is 3-4 weeks in to the 4 week initial illness (i'm no doctor, just what I'm told). Very mild symptoms. Has not ruled out Round 1.
Not really, and I don't believe the poster you answered claimed he was a top 5 small forward. They claimed Moore was a top 5 HFF which is significant difference. Super tough position to play. The gut running required to cover loose defenders, then work back and create forward options as well as...
This is an excellent observation. Moore's work goes well beyond the statistical measurements. His gut running to cover space, create space and pull defenders from their positions is incredibly valuable. It's one thing to run all day, quite another to run to the right spots all day.
OK Amon was a poor example. My point being, if Duursma or another contracted interstate player nominated us we'd expect it to get done. Not have the rest of Vic scrambling over each other to get the player.
Devila advocate here, but we only seem to complain about that rule when it suits us. We are quite happy to accept Mabior coming to us, or Amon last year.
I dare say the Hawks management team know this also. If they're serious about getting Pick 1 then there will be work going on in the back ground. I'd imagine this would be either convincing a player to a WCE trade or acquire further draft picks to satisfy.
