It's already being setup with all the talk about the Blues injuries. If we win it'll simply be because Carlton weren't full strength and we roll onto the Melbourne game as being the true test.
Dwayne Russell just ranked us the 7th best team on the pretence of having played weak teams, whilst at...
I couldn't agree more. I mentioned in another thread that I think this year is more about the development of our younger players.
We are in a good position to recruit strongly this off-seasom to rebalance the list and contend again in 2025.
That being said, there are ways we COULD contend...
It does, but it was the midfield who performed better tonight. I agree though, the midfield is our weakest line and it remains to be seen how they fare against better opponents.
Atkins was huge in the 3rd qtr. He just willed himself to every contest and won the ball.
Forward line didn't function properly for most of the night. Lots to work on there.
It's for this reason I'm focusing on the development of our younger players this season. I think with the imminent retirement of 5-6 of our older brigade this off-season we have a chance to recruit strongly in that 24-28 bracket and rebalance the list. If we do that, I think we contend next year.

I see a lot of predictions here ranking the Cats in the 10th-14th range. Whilst, this is obviously wishful thinking by opposition supporters, I actually think it's the last thing you want. It's better for you all for us to finish 5th-7th (where I think we'll be) so that we both simultaneously...
It's pretty funny. Thankfully, reality doesn't work that way and the culture we have continued to build upon since 2011 won't just disappear after one bad season.
For every player we hypothetically lose, we'll get in another 3. Such is the strength of what we've built.
