I had a mate that got invited to the eagles Vic draft event last night, most of the recruiters including ROB and Bell were in attendance. Some good info:
-Norths best offer was 2, 15, 17
-GWS didnt want the F1 for curtin cause they are obsessed with the 2 guys they drafted, so traded with...
I wonder if we do keep pick 1, and curtin slides.
Potentially we could look at say trading into pick 6-7 for our F1, and also asking for a late first round pick/early second round pick as well? Most other teams would bank on us being bottom 2, and could net us Curtin and another pick to go with...
Obviously a different set up for the mid season draft at the moment given you can’t actually trade your picks.
But i do laugh at the idea that recently eagles don’t draft interstate players when the last two pick 1s we have had we had no hesitation taking Culley and Maric…
And I also remember...
The thing that helps with the Ginbey pick is that the way our pick split and draft fell, it essentially became a free hit.
This time last year if you told us we would have pick 2, hewett would have been a lock for that pick.
We have now ended up with hewett anyway plus ginbey.
I think the fact that Jackson is only 20 and in his third year means he can essentially be considered the same as a new draftee.
I don't think it's that far off to say if he was in the draft this year he is probably going top 3.
The risk is obviously the limited exposure he has had to being...
Fair point, however I guess you can look at it another way.
If he nominated for the afl draft tomorrow, he probably goes pick 1 doesn’t he?
And given his and NN’s age, he is probably the number 1 need for our list the next 5-10 years.
Obviously having to give up multiple high first round...
Does anyone know the current Contract status of Jeremy Sharp?
Given GC's trade history, surely we could pry him away cheap while he is toiling away in the 2s
Thinking about the Chesser pick more, provided he is seen as a winger it actually makes a lot of sense.
I think the contested ball issues are more due to coaching than anything else. Shuey and Reddo aside, we still have Yeo, Sheed and Kelly in their mid 20s, have brought in SPS whose preferred...
On Vozzo, his absence has nothing to do with the club itself.
His family is from Adelaide and given the Covid restrictions the last couple of years he has been given time off back in Adelaide.
There is a risk we lose him back to an Adelaide club eventually, he was very close to getting the...
On the brander delisting, two things that fortunately soften the blow:
1) Thanks to GC's incompetence, we essentially got ryan and allen for free
2) We have also picked up SPS for essentially nothing as well
Just on the Brander situation, it certainly sucks losing him for nothing. I guess if he wasn't a first round pick we probably wouldn't think twice, but its probably amplified by the fact we haven't had many disastrous first round picks in the last 10-15 years like many other clubs have had...
I think people are significantly overblowing delays in contract announcements.
If this was pre 2020 there would be concern, but due to the Covid impact on salary caps these staggered contract announcements/agreements are happening league wide.
Its not a case of player disharmony or our...
Surely our number 1 focus this off season has to be on correcting whatever is going wrong with our medical department.
This year's injury list is the worst I can remember any club having in the last 10 years, and we have had similar issues in 2019 and 2020.
Obviously other factors need...
As many have mentioned previously, Eagles have been interested in Robert Harvey for a while and can now confirm he has been formally offered a contract. Just up to Harvey now to accept
