Just chiming in that I thought the Roar Deal with Fagan was excellent and despite inhaling all Lions news I still learnt a few things like why Dev stayed, the ongoing indecision re tall forward structure and Fagan just consistently showing mature compassionate leadership. Good stuff.
FYI that was Craig Jennings I think, was a great feature on the Whateley show until he went back to clubland. Sanderson was good replacement but not at the same level of insight I reckon
Sounds interesting, I'll look that up. In my head a big jump was with Mick Malthouse leading up to the 2010 premiership, in particular to be able to use Dane Swan in repeated 4 minute bursts before he got gassed.
Doubt there is any chance he doesn't pick us. But waiting makes sense for him - if I was his agent I'd use 'the decision' as a chance to build his profile and get a few extra articles and mentions on radio/tv. Also for the Lions its a good news story in the back pocket, maybe for after a loss or...
Don't want to sound like a club apologist, but I'm pretty happy with where the coaching ranks sit and still think there is a possibility of bringing in a strategy focussed assistant if the right person is available. Tom Morris said on SEN that Mark Stone was allowed to leave, and as others have...
I grew up in Canberra as a mad Raiders and Brumbies fan. We called AFL 'aerial ping pong' in the school yard. I had one friend who was a big Demons fan and I watched a game at his house once in around 1999 and being contrary supported the team Melbourne happened to be playing - the Brisbane...
Pretty awesome to think as well as the 2 losses were when we were lackadaisical in Round 1 about five months ago and the game against Melbourne where we put the cue in the rack too early, a lesson I feel we've learnt since. Big September looming!
I think this is a good call and very well handled. Interesting to read through the reactions the last few pages, some posters I seem to often agree with have taken other views. Clear to me as mentioned that Fagan has made a hard call and framed it in a direct and player-protective narrative...
On one level a shame to lose him but surely this helps our VFL recruitment though? If I was considering two clubs the one that gets a guy into the big leagues would definitely have extra appeal. Also well done to the Arnold family, must be an exciting time.
People do get excited early though! If you think our keeness on Levi is bit early, I heard on Sunday Crunchtime that there is a young Koutafides gun coming through - ready to play 2028 😳
Fascinating watching Pies against the lesser or middling teams, so many unforced errors by the Giants from perceived but not necessarily actual pressure. Collingwood building a bit of a mythos that the younger teams seem to succumb to. Kings Birthday game against the Dees should be a cracker...
I've been really enjoying the weekly love-in between our boy Dunks and Adam Treloar. Both clearly really nice guys and good footy insights. It's hard to find but part of the AusMerican (sp?) podcast which seems to be run by Tom Sheridan. Can't wait for their reflections on Dunks's big week! Also...
