Rumour GFC 2024 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

Eh, I don't think picks after 30 should be worth zero, it's just that the scaling needs to be more aggressive.

Toast Max Holmes extends his contract for four years.

Says that Holmes was really upset to be overlooked for the 2022 Grand Final and it did cause a pretty deep division (and I can't blame him, it would hurt any footballer).

no no, I meant as in it's not just "emotional" intelligence that can be a little lacking at times...

And the word "emotional" can be a tad extraneous at times... Sorry Billy, please don't read the forum!

He would have gone top three in an open draft. The other two major wins (Scarlett, Ablett Jr) weren't obvious as junior stars.

Look, I don't think it was deliberate, he was just a bit of an idiot on a complete high and getting carried away with limited emotional intelligence.

Father-Son is one of the great aspects of the AFL and I would never junk it. It's just wrong for the likes of Ablett, Darcy, West, Daicos etc running round for another club. Yes, Gary, I'm looking at you. The major issue is that clubs don't have the balls to bid early on F/S and call bluff...

If he does a calf in the VFL, then at least the AFL side isn't hampered by it. When it comes to match fitness, there's no substitute for playing matches.

Yes, and no (re: Constable and GHS). I think that there are a couple of unknowns in that: 1) When they hit a certain standard, players simply need to play AFL football in order to improve. Charlie and GHS both hit that standard. They don't learn much from racking up 30+ each week in the VFL...

Yeah, they are my favourite Geelong players too. They actually have a personality, and as a former food service worker (shudder), I have a lot of time for a well-paid footballer who actually signs up to deal with s**t from the general public to stay grounded. I also appreciated the photo of Cam...

The key difference being that a fit Guthrie easily makes our best 22. A fit Rohan is on the fringe of selection.

The guy hasn't played competitive football for 19 months, and has a chequered injury history. There is no way that they'll throw him straight into the AFL, and take the risk of him (a) running out of puff in the second half, or (b) doing a calf in the first fifteen minutes. We are 6 and 0...

Because SDK is more comfortable than Kolo on the last line of defence. Kolo is better at reading the game further up the front and creating 2v1 contests.
