Traded Jai Serong [Traded with 2026 R4 (Hawk) to Sydney for 2026 R3 (Syd)]

Just screams brilliant VFL player, but average AFL player. He’s a fringe player.

Free Agency James Worpel - Joins Geelong as a Restricted Free Agent, Hawthorn receive Band 4 Compensation

Sometimes it’s really just that simple. You know the bloke is of good character; intent to stay until his free agency period despite Geelong being his first love. Underrated, I think. He’s at his best when he’s an attacking midfielder (contrary to him being an in and under type, he leans...

Autopsy AFL 2025 Round 5 - Port v Hawks Sun April 13th 7:20pm AEST (AO)

Umps won’t save you this time, Hawks.

Review Winners and losers - trade week 2024

That’s my thought. Being able to trade excess draft picks this year for future ones next year. Especially if they can turn single draft picks into multiples.

Review Winners and losers - trade week 2024

With Tasmania coming into the comp, I really like how aggressively Tigers are loading up on the draft beforehand. If they do the same next year, major props.

    Traded Tom Barrass & 2025 F4 (WCE) traded to Hawthorn for 2025 F1, F2 & F3 (all Haw)

I don’t think it’s happening. Feel like it’s totally in the Eagle’s court; whether they accept that offer or not, Hawks don’t look like budging.

    Delisted Denver Grainger-Barras

He’s not a KPD. He’s a pure third tall (interception and nice kicking). He needs to focus on building fitness over muscle, tbh. And finding a side that needs a potentially elite third tall (St Kilda? West Coast?)

Who will be better in 2025 - Geelong or Hawthorn?

I remember that being a big knock on Dangerfield, too. And, well, uh… I reckon you’re right about him winning a Brownlow if he goes to Geelong. And suddenly Bruhn and Clarke will go up a gear, too. Or they’ll trade for a no-name roleplayer (like Morrison) and suddenly he goes up a level at the...

Recommitted Conor Nash [signs 5 year deal]

Hawks in a good position; feel like if Nash left, they’d just put Weddle in the middle instead.

Free Agency Harry Perryman - Joins Collingwood as UFA

It depends how good a utility. For example, Luke Hodge and Shaun Burgoyne were great utilities. Then you have genuinely freaky utilities like Kouta and Hird.

Free Agency Harry Perryman - Joins Collingwood as UFA

Hard running. Tough. Fast enough. But I don’t really see him as a great ball user, TBH. Not bad. Just very, very average. Doesn’t have a penetrating or pin point kick.

    Delisted Denver Grainger-Barras

Persevere. His best role is literally what Sicily is doing; naturally, Sicily is always going to be first picked. Once Sicily ages into more of a role-player / retires, he’ll show his value and reward the faith. Mind, bloke needs a tank desperately. Is it him not working hard enough or just...

Analysis Hawthorn rebuild: are they tanking?

Supporting the Suns for over a decade, I really appreciate the sentiment of positivity the Hawks have right now: celebrating honourable losses and learning experiences. That’s what my team did back when we were starting out. Give it time and they’ll be a powerhouse like my team. :)

Traded Bailey Smith: 4-way trade: B. Smith (WB) & pick 45 to Geel / pick 38 to Carl / Macrae (WB) to StK / pick 17 & Kennedy (Carl) to WB

Caleb Daniel is still involved in the SANFL, specifically his old club; that’s pretty much it. Just older blokes talking, but they’re worth listening to, IMO - especially when it’s about Carlton people passing through / hanging around the club.

Traded Bailey Smith: 4-way trade: B. Smith (WB) & pick 45 to Geel / pick 38 to Carl / Macrae (WB) to StK / pick 17 & Kennedy (Carl) to WB

It’s a rule that only applied to clubs that the AFL deemed dependant on funding / debt-ridden on an ad-how basis. It lasted all of three years because it was a knee-jerk reaction to football department culling during Covid. The rule ultimately left poor clubs even poorer as they could no longer...
