Less down than I was about an ugly win last week because I feel nothing for GWS, while this was against a bunch of tanking, cheating, heartless, spineless campaigners who've been talking themselves up for my entire 2.5 decades of conscious thought without a thing but 4 wooden spoons to show for it...
I still can't get over how good he was at the very start of 2015 before he broke his hand (and played the game out in that epic win against Sydney). Even by that stage of his career he'd had a bad run with injury but it felt like his form was kind of symbolic of the start of the Bevo era.
Nice to win, but it would be really nice to follow a team that felt like more than the sum of it's parts. We really haven't since 2016 to me and that absolutely includes 2021. The main thing I've enjoyed about this year has been Arthur Jones, stoked to see him start getting some rewards, and...
Yeah definitely the best game he's played since 2021 by some distance, and I personally like him and wouldn't want to lose him, but we've got so many similar outsidish wings/hbfs that as other dogs fans have said he probably still won't be a high priority to keep. Can definitely see him being...
Duryea Jones Richards
Dale Naughton Crozier/Khamis
Treloar Libba Daniel
Roarke Darcy/Bruce JUH
Weightman Lobb West
English Bont Smith
Macrae Williams JJ McLean (hopefully)
We won 2016 without any real tall forwards, we cannot win a flag with a shaky back 6. Richards/Dale/Daniel in a back 6 is...
I think we have a top 4 list but even getting Jones (as much as I hate it) I still feel we need to move Naughton back (which I also hate). You absolutely do not win a flag with a flaky defence, you can with an average forward line. If we're relying on Jones, Gardner and Keath as our entire list...
Got dealt a shit hand and did as well as anyone could with it. I think some of our current problems come down to how well all of the first round midfielders we drafted/developed from ~2012-2016 did. We've had the midfield to keep us competitive every year since with hardly any KPPs around them...
Lot of talk about North's shit luck and how they should bend Port over backwards at the trade table and/or receive additional AFL compensation for losing a #1 pick. At what point do you have to take responsibility for being a shit club that nobody wants to play for?
I'll go with Zverev for the next first time winner, still think the tennis he was playing ~4 years ago is the best of anyone outside the big 3 and Alcaraz. That said I absolutely do not want this to happen.
