    Bluemour 'Silly Season' Edition XXXIV

Ruthlessness in list management is fraught with danger and maximising returns above all else is too narrow a focus. A ruthless list manager would have moved on Ed Curnow - but what flow on effects could that have had? We did the right thing by Will & that will serve the CFC better than a pick...

I don’t see how we can possibly have a big crack at trade or FA for the next 2 years anyway so I wouldn’t stress about next years capital High level estimate we’d have 11 players taking up between 7-7.5m So the other 34 players share about 5.5-6m in 2023. If you do the math, we can’t have much...

I doubt we play a key role in trade or FA for 2-3 years at least. You can only assume our cap is very tight for now

He’s almost 28 - I doubt we will ever get anything out of him than we don’t already get. The annoying thing is 1 big year from him could win us a flag which probably means we’ll keep going down the same path, hoping..

You won’t hear much fanfare - he’s not and will never be a star. And when it comes to trade period people only care about the big names. Having said that he’s a solid wingman in a top 6 side. Was one of his teams best in the finals. A first round pick, a best 22 wingman (which he is) & signing...

The most recent ‘rumour’ is laughable “No Plan B” is armchair expert code for “I have no idea” This year we’ve shown to be a very multi faceted team. We’ve won games this year in different ways. We beat Richmond without Walsh Sydney without Harry Fremantle without Weitering We came back...

The biggest obstacle is the fact we’ve asked several players to take pay cuts to fit cerra & hewett in. We can’t then reveal that we’ve actually got a bit of space left. Would be a culture killer. We’ll take bargain basement delisted free agents or kids at the draft.

Would be ineligible for a pay cut as the salary promised dictated his free agency move

Asking players to take a pay cut and then leaking it that 1 player ‘refused’ is pretty shameful even if they aren’t named.

Agree I think they’d all be on board with it

Pretty sure hes on an absurb amount of money next year due to a back ended deal, so doubt it.

Alternatively if they don’t pay these players much more than they’re worth, they would all leave & their list management would still be a joke. Difficult situation.

Considering 99% of the rubbish personal attacks on players are completely fabricated, it would be a better place if the posts were deleted to avoid the character assassinations.

I’m surprised how many people are off Zac Williams and calling his recruitment a failure after 1 year. Understand he’s on a big contract & didn’t appear to be in great shape, so deserves some criticism. But his season he went: Missed - played 2 games - missed - 2 games - missed - 5 games - bye...

Can’t go for Stengle - if we end up with non-footy cultural issues we might end up like the Melbourne Storm, Richmond or the Matildas..
