Suns in the Media - Part II

I would rather our players talk to a larger audience and try and counter some of the assumptions about GC coming out of Vic, and start to become more household names. It’s important for our branding too. Get more people interested in watching and following our team and players. Local news is a...

2024/2025 Gold Coast Draft & Trade Periods

So we’re tight on cap now, all of the sudden? I like Jeffery and could see him getting game time, especially if a player like Powell is injured (or moves more up the ground). Would play the exact same role. Could get a game elsewhere you’d imagine though. Long contract means we have the power.

Suns in the Media - Part II

To be fair… what local media? Do we even have local sports radio or mainstream podcast channels? I think there still isn’t enough interest in mainstream media here to talk for 10 minutes about something like you could on these shows in Melb. Grassroots may be exploding football wise up here...

He still has several years to go. Suns have no pressure to re-sign him.

    Review Round 5 - Hawthorn @ PF Stadium - 13th April 2024 - 7:30pm AEST

I always felt Will would be one of the first we would debut (even without Walter and Rogers being injured). He just looked good in the pre-season. Has a good size and speed already. And Harwick seemed to like him. I just thought it would be halfback (where Sexton and now Flanders roam). But...

14 tackles is exceptional! Him and Clohesy have been excellent inclusions.

If we’re talking the best small forward in our VFL today… Long. But I doubt that. If we’re talking our future, maybe Rogers. Swallow also kicked 3 and could just start forward I guess. Not a like for like though.

2nds Gold Coast Reserves: Title Defense 2024

Hard to blame the players when they were basically 60 points up at half time, but the players needed to do a bit more when they were on top. Lucky we smashed the first quarter and kept that lead. A few players might be worth a look, but probably need a few games to prove it.

Ginnivan is the exact kind of player to give us a bath. The return of the Chol as well.

    Gold Coast SUNS guernsey discussion

Checked after 20 mins of their post. Large already gone, sadly. Would have loved one. Reckon they look sick.

    Review Round 4 - Western Sydney @ Mt. Barker - 7th April 2024 - 12:30pm AEST

I agree with the letting players play to their strengths. He is a very good kick and pretty good read of play; he is not good in the contest or overly fast. If he is not forward, ideally you want him to get the ball in the middle of the field. He’s basically a less mobile “The Lizard” Blakey...

    Review Round 5 - Hawthorn @ PF Stadium - 13th April 2024 - 7:30pm AEST

I could see Read being our swingman. Plays in all three parts of the ground, and his disposal was a highlight in his draft year. Makes sense to me. We do have a gluttony of talls at the moment, all of them good enough to play (jury out in Read, but he kicked a goal on debut and won a few hit...

And we were particularly tall down back with Collins, Mac, Ballard and Luko. Really not needed for any team to have 4 tall defenders.

    Review Round 4 - Western Sydney @ Mt. Barker - 7th April 2024 - 12:30pm AEST

Really liked Clohesy on a wing (and a goal!). Really liked Mac back (intercept king!). Really liked Flanders playing half back too (good disposal for the most part). Though Graham was pretty solid overall too. Did not like Luko down back—he just doesn’t seem to enjoy it and isn’t playing with...

    Review Round 4 - Western Sydney @ Mt. Barker - 7th April 2024 - 12:30pm AEST

After a bad start, we started looking good with patches of dominance. Plenty to work with. Inclusions have all been solid. Defence is better with Mac, forward line is better with Rosas. Walter offers a fair bit too. Graham has been good and some nice kicks forward. Same with Clohesy. Both...
