Its almost surreal that this could happen in todays AFL landscape, but something tells me its on.
I doubt Hird comes out that hard if it isnt a good shot of happening.
Not sure we'd get much for him. The only top 10 team that he'd probably be first ruck at is Geelong. And thats assuming they dont want to keep investing in Edwards.
Worth more to us then anyone else.
Im not sure about that. Pitto is competing serviceably against the best rucks in the AFL week in week out. Reidy is dominating VFL opponents.
HOK is a key forward who has had 10+ possesions only once this year and barely averages a goal a game in the VFL. In his 3 AFL appearances hes averages...
I think hes a much more natural footballer. Mirkov was much more raw when we took him.
Mirkov had 14+ disposals only 2 times in 44 games on our list. 25 times he had less then 10 possesions. 4+ marks only twice.
Riley has only played 14 games in our VFL side. 14+ disposals 7 times. Never below...
I think this pick confirms HOK is a forward or nothing. We wouldnt have picked Riley if we saw HOK as a potential ruck.
Happy with the pick. Riley has all the attributes youd want.
Weiterings intercept work was better then Dean has shown so far, although Dean has that ability.
Where Dean has been super impressive is his actual defensive work.
Most key defenders who get drafted early usually do so on their intercepting, often not having to pay much respect to opponents...
Looks poor to me. Even his action.
Toner looks like your typical blue collar 10 possesion 1 goal a game forward, that gets pushed out of the system in 2 years.
Hope we look elsewhere. Dont get our obsession with average small forwards.
I dont really see Tassie in direct competition with us. It's arguably the best job, but they'll be after something more then the best coach.
They will want someone to lead and setup the club, as well as boost its profile.
Almost certain to go an established coach you'd think.
Essendon are...
I dont think there is anything wrong with having 3 rucks on the list. 1 best 22 (Pitt), 1 backup (Reidy) and 1 developing (Riley). Assuming we dont see HOK as a 1st ruck which I dont. Pitt is 29 and I dont have much faith Reidy can replace him, so Riley not a bad option.
Riley impresses me more then Reidy personally. I think he'll be our number 1 ruck in 2 years if we take him.
Dont agree with comments he is years off. Already over 100kgs at 206cm. Not like a stick thin Mirkov who was still learning the game.
For all the criticism our board gets I do feel they are united and for the most part just let people do their job.
I think Essendon is a lot more disjointed in that regard. Anyone that would even consider Hird should not be let anywhere near that club.
Not because he should continue to be...
With Scott sacked the race is on. Youd think we'd need to get moving now. I imagine we'd be after similar candidates.
Dont want to get stuck with our no.2. Though I think ours is the better job.
