Around that time period that concept of promotion relegation with the vfl came up again (theirs talk of it on a pre match grand final clip on you tube ) - may not have been impossible for the vfa clubs to compete then as the devise wasn’t as great. -

Good points made - how different things would have been if the promotion relegation system proposed in the 40s between vfl and vfa eventuated, would have been a game changer and in my opinion for the better. Needless to say such a thing now is out of the question and will never be contemplated... -

Not the coaches, if the money is not there neither will be the players. Love for the jumper in stand along clubs is becoming rare with youngsters hardly knowing a thing about stand alone clubs and have no sense of it being a privilege to play for a Port or any other stand alone club. -

More than a a bit I would say, won’t get anywhere near double figure wins. It’s interesting people thought a coaching change is all we needed, stratty was almost having a panic attack by swearing all we needed was a coaching change and anybody who disagreed with him wasn’t a real supporter, well... -

True, always happy with a win but not sure how good a win it was as Sandringham untested and wonder how competitive they will be. From first impression they will push sides in most games but could it be a competitive performance because it was v a side rebuilding? I guess only time will tell... -

Yes theve continued the recent trend of stand.alones focused on one another - they play half the stand alones sides twice which depends on.las.last years performance ie the stronger half play each other.twice and the weaker half play each other twice and also play the remaining stand alone sides... -
