Player Watch Dougie Cochrane APPROVED to be in Port's NGA, signs for Port Magpies for 2026

I think we will be super shite again next year. We have around 15 players you could cut straight away. And that’s not including the older +27s (around 9) who won’t be around for our next premiership crack.

News Port Adelaide's Next Generation Academy

While I’m an advocate for this, I don’t think there needs to be additional cat B rookie spots for anyone, including Indigenous players. There actually needs to be an AFL reserves, and a list of 60 players - which teams have to fill. They should have no rookies, and they should bump up the...

    List Mgmt. List Management 2026-27

With how crap our depth is, I’d be fine with 2-3 older players from other clubs who are genuine leaders to take on a pre-coaching role. Like what Brisbane did with Hodge. Neale/Crisp/Pendlebury/Sidebottom, Witts or even Briggs. And then to balance that just trade out some 27+ players with...

Player Watch Dougie Cochrane APPROVED to be in Port's NGA, signs for Port Magpies for 2026

We can have an agreement with Essendon to not bid on Bewick next year, if they don’t bid on our players. Richmond have no incentive to bid on Cochrane if Walker is bid on first. So we just need to find a trade with them where it’s beneficial to them. With Dougie at 4, can use bonus pick, and...

    List Mgmt. 2026 AFL Draft, November 19 and 20 (Picks after Round 12: 3, 21, 23, 39, 50, 57)

We can also do trades with Richmond and Essendon to ensure they don’t pick Dougie. It means nothing to them if they Pick Walker at 1. So we trade them somebody for a little unders and we pay part of their salary to let Dougie slip. No doubt Carlton will be doing the same.

    List Mgmt. 2026 AFL Draft, November 19 and 20 (Picks after Round 12: 3, 21, 23, 39, 50, 57)

Finish last and take the free agency compensation for Butters. Go into the draft with Pick 1 and 2. Bid on Walker at 1, get an extra 1st. Take Van Hutton at 2 (our natural pick). Split Pick 3 to cover Dougie, on the proviso they don’t take pick Dougie. match Bid at 4 for Dougie with split...

    List Mgmt. List Management 2026-27

Yep. We need every and as many picks at the draft over the next 2-3 years. We have 13 blokes on our list, that are serious fringe, and this isn’t including the +27s on our list. Getting in some older premiership players like Neale as free agents, would actually be worth it right now. Just to...

Player Watch Welcome To Port Adelaide Mid Season Pick #5 (2026) - Xavier Bamert

I wonder if he could play that lockdown defender role…? You know the one they thought Mead could play.

List Mgmt. 2026 Mid Season Draft

I don’t mind the picks. A young big bodied mid, worth a shot. You never know. Ollie is close to done. Drew is too slow. Brodie is pretty average. SPP has a knee injury. The ruck is essential even just for the magpies so other non rucks don’t have to go in there.

List Mgmt. 2026 Mid Season Draft

Hopefully we get an AFL reserves soon, and any players that think they have a shot across the country will be playing in this competition. The SANFL won’t need to worry then…

Preview Changes & Preview Thread for Round 13 vs West Coast @ Optus Stadium

It depends whether they were acting on instruction (from Ken and Davies), or making decisions on their own… The issue was that the club thought they could take the leap from a top 4 finisher to a flag winner. That has now been busted. And the club really has no choice, with the new draft...

Autopsy Round 11, 2026 vs Carlton

Drew is just too slow with poor disposal. Ultimately, I wish the club for all these years had just played SPP in the midfield over Drew. He has a big body, but also has speed. It’s just that we have been so short of speedy elite running half forwards and wingers for years. That SPP became a...

News Port Adelaide's Next Generation Academy

Very true, but only if he and Connor and the leadership group are part of the conversation initially. Otherwise you would feel let down by the club if you are trying your all to win. It would be interesting being a fly on the wall. Is this year about experimenting, defence systems, developing...

Where does the 1954–59 run sit in Port Adelaide’s history?

It’s hard to rank one era of the club as more important than another. Your post actually got me thinking right back to the beginning and what life around Port Adelaide must have been like in the 1870s. Port Adelaide wasn’t a huge place then — only a few thousand people. Anyone who’s lived in a...
