List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion - Part V

With so many players out of contract end of 2026, think the turnover will be as high as this season. Gone are the days where you can get a long contract on potential alone e.g. Billings, put all players on notice which can only be a good thing.

Getting Butters would mean moving on a few other senior players, given we already have some room with Steele leaving and not getting Aleer. For example, if Clark, Butler, Howard leave at the end of next season, we can easily afford Butters.

Each to their own I guess. Some people will always complain. I had more issues with Billings getting paid top dollar for little impact 95% of the games he played. To me Banfield is a hybrid mid, can play inside, outside. I’m not sure he is a good wing, as speed and precise kicking is probably...

    Training Saints preseason 2026

Since kicking nearly 50 goals a few seasons ago, King has spent more time on the sidelines than on the field, when he was playing, he gets very little service. Not saying he is a superstar, but he is at least a very good player when fully fit. Most key forwards capable of kicking 50 goals a...

    Training Saints preseason 2026

Jack Silvagni didn't have to come to the Saints. He could have gone to Collingwood or Dogs, he knows coming here he maybe scrutinized more because of his dad. Gubby also specifically said that Ross and him deliberately hid the recruitment of Jack from SOS to avoid the exact same talk. Jumping at...

    Training Saints preseason 2026

The best thing for Trav is developing his midfield craft in the VFL, become a dominant VFL mid who can get the ball and impact on offence/defence, he’ll play AFL when his form warrants it.

Wilson looked more apprehensive/unsure when played on a wing especially on the back half, but on a HFF running towards goal, he seems a lot more instinctive, direct and damaging as a result. Rather he collecting 15 touches but kick 2-3 goals and a goal assist instead of side ways kicks and long...

Welcome Welcome to St Kilda - Charlie Banfield

In the clips I saw, he looks more of a inside contested beast in the mould of Patrick Cripps than a winger.. Just need a bit more composure.

I like the fact that a lot of our recent recruits are all versatile/dual position, good in contests and can run all day, Travaglia, Boxshall, Banfield, Fincher. Our biggest issues previously is contested ball and first possession from ruck. With TDK and more contested young players, we’ve...

Mratz is slow more like a ruck. Where as Barrat is agile, can play as a key forward/back and even play in the midfield.. On top of that, Barrat is high impact and very resilient.(lost a parent and had overcome injuries). Think we got it right. Barrat should also grow from 194 to 196/197 being a...

Not surprising at all, has a November birthday and listed at 193cm when drafted. May not be done at 195cm

We also have mature bodies like Carrol and Clark who can play roles if required. Anyway, a pick 50 will more than likely than not delisted in 2 years, so probably a moot point.

We weren’t expecting that many good players will be left this late in the draft. So have committed to Ronnie and Said. Just think we could have got a tall like Luderwyke as well. The club prioritised drafting another mid (Banfield) which I’m fine with.

Also Dalrymple likes drafting mids, he thinks midfield is the most important to get right first. Hence our midfield is now building nicely.
