Preview R7: Changes vs. Brisbane Lions

Yeah. I think he would have been close to getting dropped for the Freo and Carlton games where they moved him to the forward line, but Cumming and Pedlar missing (plus Fogarty missing both) helped him retain the spot. He's been squeezed out now even with ANB out which shows he's slipped back a...

Player Watch Lachlan McAndrew - Re-Signed to End of 2027

If Tasmania were entering next year I think ROB would be a good fit. Sets high standards, can ruck the whole game, lots of AFL experience. Not a bad pickup at all for a team that will be full of kids. Plus he'd be affordable. Couple of years away makes it tough though.

Preview R7: Changes vs. Brisbane Lions

Nicks' comments make it pretty clear it's also form/fitness related more generally. “There’s a little bit more than just his body when it comes to Jake’s selection this week, he’s gone through a number of challenges, and we’re trying to find the best way for him to re-gain that spark that’s...

Preview R7: Changes vs. Brisbane Lions

There's also Curtin to come back which will put some pressure on a number of players including Cumming. There will be a major selection squeeze at some stage. I don't think he's undroppable but he'd want to play better than last week.

Review R6: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. St Kilda

An interesting feature of this season so far for a team that's 3-3 is how little our best performers from last year have impacted. In terms of coaches votes, our top 5 players in 2025 were Dawson (90 votes), Thilthorpe (66), Rankine (55), Keays (34) and Soligo (28). The only player from that...

Review R6: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. St Kilda

It was a good game but it's still not clear that he displaces anyone from the current midfield group. We've been giving most CBAs to Dawson, Rachele, Peatling and Berry, with Rankine coming in as the 5th mid and taking a handful, and sometimes a couple for Thilthorpe. Edwards can definitely put...

Preview R7: Changes vs. Brisbane Lions

I think it's Nankervis for Dawson and probably no other changes unless Soligo is fit. If he is, it's Soligo for Pedlar I think. Ideally I'd like to see Bond out and Edwards retained but not sure how to balance the side around that approach. Edwards will get another week or two but I don't see...

Review R6: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. St Kilda

Definitely better to win by a point than lose by a point, and it still feels like the team's best is quite good, but definitely not a great performance overall. Saints aren't too bad though so you have to take it with the injury list and the start. Nice debut from Edwards. Second term was...

Game Day Adelaide V St Kilda : Dawsons Game

Nice response in the second quarter, particularly through the midfield. Actually think St. Kilda have played quite well aside from a few missed chances, but there's a decent gap in quality going forward. Should hopefully win from here.

Game Day Adelaide V St Kilda : Dawsons Game

That was some ball movement from St. Kilda.

Game Day Adelaide V St Kilda : Dawsons Game

The amount of space the Saints players have is astonishing. Miles off it.

    Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 4) - Re-Signed to 2027...

If you'd read the rest of the post you'd have seen I'm not waiting for that, but carry on. It was, to be fair, three sentences long.

    Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 4) - Re-Signed to 2027...

Mostly agree with that, I also think we're missing some of the more confident and attacking ball users out of defence that we had during the best period last year (Keane and Hinge) and haven't found an effective way to cover their absence. We're expecting Butts and Bond to be like-for-like...

    Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 4) - Re-Signed to 2027...

Once again you're completely ignoring the point to try and be a cop on the beat hunting for Nicks defenders. Obviously I'm aware Hinge played last year - I'm saying that the eagerness to get Hinge back into the team and the comments the coach has made about him coming back shows that they were...

    Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 4) - Re-Signed to 2027...

What part of my post is defending Nicks? I swear half the time you don't read the posts you're responding to. Trying to move the ball with more precision and limiting opposition scoring opportunities does not mean the terminal goal is to move the ball more slowly. The goal is to find a balance...
