I can see either side of it. If they want him as a key forward primarily that’s fine, but I think picking Murray as a second ruck and just playing him as a key forward while Thilthorpe has stints in the midfield and rucking around the ground doesn’t make sense, unless Murray was injured or... -

Is that the narrative though? I think it’s more that needing to use Thilthorpe in the ruck to rest the main ruck takes him away from his primary role where he is a #1 pick and All Australian. I haven’t seen anyone from the club saying Thilthorpe can’t ruck because he will get hurt. It’s not... -

I don’t have any problem with saying Thilthorpe is too valuable as a forward to have him rucking, but if that’s the case we need to use whoever we are picking in that role in the ruck. We essentially preferred Murray to Walker today because of his performances taking 20-30% of CBAs and then... -

Only two CBAs for Murray tonight. Wonder what the thought process was there - Thilthorpe up the ground to get him involved in the game isn’t unreasonable but if we feel we need Murray in the forward 50 as an option, why not play Walker? He is obviously a way better forward. If we don’t feel we... -

Wasn’t Murray injured for a few games there? We started the season with him as the second ruck and tried Maley after he missed through injury, so I think it’s fair to say he was preferred. Then for whatever reason we also played them both at the same time. -

Which part do you object to? That he’s not a particularly great kick? Or that he played well? Both seem fairly uncontroversial to me. -

Main issue with Murray is going to be his kicking which is not great. Will probably be an ongoing frustration going forward, but he’s doing everything else extremely well. Great game today. -

Think we were good all day, aside from taking the foot off the gas in the last. But we ran Pedlar and Taylor through the middle and rested a few at the end of the game. -

Obviously depends how he’s going in training but I’d be inclined to pick Thilthorpe and rest Walker another week if we are bringing one of them in and both are available. It’s a pretty big game and we will be a much better chance of winning it with Thilthorpe in the side given Hawthorn’s outs... -

Ah okay so now it’s ’might’ be done. In which case sure, so might everyone. Walker got 10 votes so at the very least both coaches thought he was the best. But those guys are dumb, not like you. -

I think it would be genuinely surprising to not win at least 3 of those. We would be betting favourites in all of them except maybe the Bulldogs away, depending on form. -

He was best on a couple of games ago and has played way better than Fogarty pretty much always. Will be done eventually obviously but not sure why you’d think it is now. -

Think he’s quite a capable ruck. Thilthorpe would be good anywhere on the ground but can’t see why we’d not want Murray rucking. Even during the second term he took 40% of the CBAs and got McAndrew’s time on ground right down. -
