The blustery conditions may have contributed to failure of the tactics in the first quarter. It’s hard to execute that type of game plan on a windy day.
I’d be playing Mitchell as sub if ready. Run is pretty important late in games when things start opening up. And it would provide a good segue into the season for him considering he missed the preseason hit outs.
If I was Mitchell, I’d be making sure everyone in the team knows who Stephen May is. Posters of him in the dressing room prior to the game- that sort of thing. I’d then be making the players aware they are duty bound not kick the ball anywhere in his approximate vicinity when mounting an attack...
Well, that was disappointing. A game characterised by a midfield that looked flat footed and a forward line that thought the behinds were the goals. Slightly better than last year in that we didn’t allow the opposition to get a run on. And our recruits have really given us something to work...
Our Achilles heel is our back line, plenty of rebound but lacking in competent, truly defensive types. The mids will be needing to work really hard when we don’t have the ball.
I just hope Watson doesn’t follow in Ginnivan’s footsteps and start playing for head high frees. It certainly worked against Ginnivan when it got the attention of the media. There were numerous times last season where Ginnivan nearly had his head ripped off, only to be called play on. At 170cms...
Yes this whole, “we are going to see team attacking a lot more this season” is a bit of wishful thinking, if the games just played are anything to go by.
I agree with the bolded part, however I attribute that more to the introduction of nuclear weapons, rather than policies and interventions of the US. In any event, Trump, his non-engagement stance and path to the Whitehouse, may not be assured as we are lead believe on the strength of Biden’s...
If Trump does get up in November, we may just have our answer to one of the big questions of our time. Will the world descend into chaos, sans the US as the global policeman. I suspect not.
With all this talk of a new look forward line, the success of it will come down to one man alone- Mitch Lewis. The key to us kicking winning scores is having him playing every week and having him in good form. Everyone around him is a bit player by comparison.
