Interesting suggestion re: English and Naughton. One big problem I have with your team though, and it is the same problem as last week's team only worse. It is simply too young and inexperienced. Meaning we have too many passengers who expect to be carried, at least partially, by the senior...

Losing Libba is going to make things hard. Hopefully we bounce back, and the boys who come in lift to cover the absence of their vice-captain. I hope Bevo shows some faith in his veterans rather than the newbies who keep turning in consistently mediocre, low initiative, performances. Out...

Agree with the first bit, not so much the last bit. Don't think other clubs have done much better draft wise. The big reason some of those clubs like Geelong and Sydney haven't bottomed out is they keep faith with mature players and make the young blokes really earn their spots, just like I'm...

I don't think that is completely the case _Mike_. I think talent development is actually one of his strengths. I think the main problem is his timing expectations are often out of kilter. Take the Stringer issue for instance. By all reports he was behaving like an immature idiot back in 2017...

I would argue all those players still currently offer more to the team than players like Baker, Gallagher, VDM, Sanders, Bramble, Khamis and a few others. Those named players should be in and out of the side or playing sub. Not proven champions like Daniel, Dale and Macrae. You work with those...

I expect better from you lachy. No body is suggesting that we hang on to players for ever or even past to point where serious decline becomes obvious. We do not have a history of predominantly making this mistake. There is much more evidence that we have done the opposite and tended to push...

BTW if leadership in the playing group was considered an issue. How on earth did anyone think that prematurely removing a leader like Boyd from the team was an advisable strategy? 🤦‍♂️

The belief in that narrative has been the central failing of the club for the majority of its existence as far as I can tell, but it is wrong, wrong, wrong! How many premiership teams have had plenty of blokes that were far from angels? Heaps of them, including our own. Furthermore, pushing...

Respect is a two-way street. We lost our way when we started dropping blokes after one bad game rather than showing faith in them. Look at Matthew Boyd who was instrumental in 2016 but deemed too old and kept in the VFL virtually all season, then he came out and dominated in his farewell game...

I absolutely agree. I have never said that Bevo doesn't make mistakes, he makes plenty, and they infuriate me too. I just disagree with a lot of posters on here about what those mistakes are. I have consistently said his biggest mistake is he puts the future ahead of the present too much. It's...

Unfortunately, he is still making the same mistake that he made in 2017. He didn't show enough loyalty to his premiership team back then, just like he isn't showing enough loyalty to his senior players now.

Possibly so, although I do think professionals, even young ones, need to take a bit more responsibility for their own performance. On the bright side his missing is trending towards a more consistent pattern, so I think he is still on a positive trajectory, pardon the pun.

Macrae has been an absolute model of consistency. How did we repay that at the start of this year? Playing guys who have done nothing in front of him. That sort of treatment kills morale. Spots need to be earned. Too often they haven't been.

He is certainly improving, but still needs to learn how to kick for goal. His misses have been really hurting.

You reap what you sow. Too many players who aren’t established in the team or at the level, and they played accordingly. By playing too many young kids and putting established players on notice, the match committee has eroded the confidence and psychological safety of all players. Too few...
