    Ive always thought that a 6 round U/18 interleague series from the major regions would be enough to Talent ID prospective AFL/VFL players. These players could still be indentified via the V/Line Cup. Then, if every club had an Academy then could then be recruited to that.

    Have to agree! Has been since the Old championship format fell by the way! Bendigo v O&M for example proves nothing. The O&M will always be a mile ahead of the Bendigo League even if they lose to the BFL. What grade VAFA are they choosing their team from?

    One of the great rivalries. Played hard on the field but many players had mates from the opposition. It was such a big game that cars would be parked around the ground on a Friday!

    A lot of these issues are and were caused by the AFL deciding that the VFL Development league should cease to exist at the end of 2017. A terrible decision and it was replaced by VFLW....people are still shaking their heads!

    Says he supports promotion /relegation...of course he does from his South Barwon Ivory tower! A tower that actively pursues 14/15 year olds that become 1 or 2 point players by the time they reach senior level. Perhaps he needs a stint at a bottom club for an injection of reality?
