Agree with others I'd play him forward, its not like he's being replaced by 1st gamers, Banks and Brown are both in their 5th year and need to be handed the responsibility, we've seen masssive spikes in performance from both when Shorty is out. Also we have plenty of experience in the backline...
If Port can get pick 1 and move the Cochrane bid from 1 to 3 (Bid on Walker at 1, select pick 2) they'll save around 800 ponts in matching, and end up with 2 elite talents. They would be mad not to strike a deal with us, and should have the picks to do so.
I originally wanted Yze over Mini as I could see there would need to be a lot of difficult decisions in regards to phasing ou the existing stars and I didnt trust that Mini would be able to do that being so close to all those players.
But honestly Yze hasn't made any of those difficult...
He actually found players in space with a handball a couple of times when he was first recieve out of stoppage, and incredibly that player had time to pick out an option i50. We actually ended up running out the front of stoppage.
Agree, think we should also go hard at Zac Bailey, we have to pay someone, he's energetic and better in the midfield than a lot think.
Bruce Reville is another out of contract player who'd be handy, can play multiple positions and good age profile for our list.
Impey, Amon, Ginnivan, Scrimshaw, Meek & Gunston. Hawks didnt use any first rounders and these guys are all very solid best 18 players. All brought in when Hawks were floundering too. It can be done, you just have to make it happen.
Minimum this year we need one of Zac Bailey or Mitch Lewis...
I brought this up already, both Carlton and Port would be busting to get our pick 1 and would be in thier interests to over pay for it, to not only have a pick before thier players get bid on, but to be able to push their guy out to pick 3 which saves them about 800 points bid wise.
Both likely...
This really should have been the year where we allowed one of our experienced players to be out of contract to cash in on a FA pick. Balta, short or Miller would all probably have got us band 1 compo.
Picks 1 and 2 would have rounded out the rebuild nicely.
Yeah it really beggers belief that we have 2 guys who perform well as centre square mids in the 2's, Sonsie and kmac 2.0, and neither have been given an opportunity in there all year, or last year. O honestly dont get what we have to lose by giving them a crack in their preferred position.
Have to agree, it was so obvious watching live in the Port game they just set up 10-12 players 55m down the line as the knew exactly where we were going to kick it. Once they turned it over they ran in numbers through our setup with ease.
We just never even look at bringing it back through the...
I dont think most people mind getting beat, cause this year is about developement.
Problem is other than Lalor and Grjl, everyone else is either not getting games or going backwards and the game style is absolute dogsh.te.
I'd be happy with marginal improvement in any area tbh.
Any chance we look to trade out of pick 1 this year. Port likely to have a top 5 pick, plus possibly 3 other first rounders.
They can bid on Walker at 1, take best available pick 2, then Dougie gets pushed to pick 3 so a huge points saving for them. They could match pick 3 with picks like 12...
Well either he is telling them all to bomb it long or they are all ignoring what we've practised all pre season and his instructions.
Neither option is good for the coach.
I'd rather go for Zac Bailey and Darcy Wilson. Will allow us to keep our 2 top 5 pics to add more talent.
4 possible A graders or one A+, we still need depth of talent.
