    Coaching Staff New Coach Search

I'm in camp Longmire but comfortable that Wright/Davies will be ruthless and find someone who can set standards and build for sustainable success over the long term. I think the head coach appointment will have as much to do with how they envision the makeup of the broader coaching group moving...

    Rumour Bluemour Discussion XLI

I'm old school, but Cripps rocking up to the club in a promo shirt for his BS wellness brand didn't sit well with me. Could be a total coincidence but the cynical view is that he knew he'd be doorstopped on the way in to Princes Park. Bloke has been a total warrior with years of service, but...

Hot Topic Michael Voss resigns from Carlton. Best of luck and thank you Vossy!

Interview by Voss with Barrett is very classy. Couldn't have approached it much better. Between club and coach they couldn't have handled today any better.

Official Club Stuff From The President - Robert Priestley

He did fine. Didn't stray too far from who/what he is, given his background. Wright did ok. Not a natural orator but got better as the presser went along. Chris Davies the most impressive for mine. Equal balance of resolve, compassion, and respect. You'd do a lot worse with him as a boss...

    Coaching Staff New Coach Search

I'm hoping for a more cerebral, analytical type. It's essentially a prerequisite when you consider the coaching minds they will be up against every week and the way that coaching appointments are trending. The ability to identify, analyse, and respond tactically in real-time along with...

Universal Love Welcome to Carlton Graham Wright

The different in game style/structure between the 1s and 2s is pretty stark and if the small sample in the VFL is a look towards where we are headed, I like it. The question is to why with results the way they are in the 1s why we're not ripping off the bandaid now and going all in on the same...

Autopsy 2026 Rd 9 Blues go down after scaring reigning premiers

I miss the days of having a fringe player go out there with this specific purpose. I'm still basking in the delight of being right behind Matty Hogg at PP when he chinned Brian Royal.

Autopsy 2026 Rd 9 Blues go down after scaring reigning premiers

Bears barely got out of second gear. Good teams find a way on an off night. Fagan will probably be secretly happy they got a bit of a scare to shake out some complacency. The contrast in ball movement between the two teams is about as stark as I've seen it in recent times. They carved...

Same. I see him as a Haynes replacement. Different skillset, but definitely an athletic 3rd tall type which is a bit of a gap in our list depth and age profile.

Hot Topic Michael Voss resigns from Carlton. Best of luck Vossy.

Spot on. There is a reason why they moved out a multiple Premiership winning coach for him. His football brain was identified during his playing days and the likes of Hodge are not surprised he's become probably the best coaching mind in the game. He struggled early in his tenure as was...

    Rumour Bluemour Discussion XLI

A good coach can do a lot with some very ordinary players.... system beats talent every day of the week. A great coach can also develop sh*t players. Have a look at what Geelong has done with 3rd and 4th rounders for about 2 decades. Same applies for the Swans.

Hot Topic Michael Voss resigns from Carlton. Best of luck Vossy.

That's a fair and measured perspective. I'm all for strategic timing, but I'm also mindful that as long as Voss is coach, we don't have the benefit of seeing our talent play 10+ games under a different approach/strategy that isn't entirely based around winning the contested ball. I actually...

    Rumour Bluemour Discussion XLI

I'm intrigued to know what you think coaching is if he's not accountable for player development both from a skills and mental/leadership perspective. Yes, the coach has his broader coaching and development group at his disposal, but the accountability exists with the head coach.

What trouble could make things worse right now? We lose by 15 goals instead of 10?
