Game Day Carlton v St Kilda Practice Match Gameday Discussion

Interesting game last night. As per last year, our strengths and weaknesses are pretty obvious and opposing teams know how to exploit us. Skill errors and turnovers kill us as we lack accountability in our midfield. They simply won't chase or bust a gut to get back in the correct defense...

A much better effort that term. Dow finally looking like making the next step.

    Autopsy Carlton v Essendon Practice Match - We won:- 14.11 (95) to 11.8 (74)!

Takeaways from the first half are that we play much like the side from last year with a couple of nice additions to our talent. Same issues are there with forward entries and opposition basically carving through us when we turned the ball over at half forward. Talent giving us the edge thus...

Defensive pressure is virtually non-existent so far. They are carving through us at will.

News Daniel O’Keefe appointed Carlton VFL Reserves Coach

Yep. Jose Mourinho, who was Bobby Robson's translator at Barca...there's a long list. Many American football coaches realised at an early age they were never going to cut it as pro players and there is no stigma in the sport re: never having played the game at the highest level. The theory is...

News Daniel O’Keefe appointed Carlton VFL Reserves Coach

Plenty of other sports have successful coaches who never played at the highest level. I worked with more than a few at the NFL who weren't more than bang average college-level players.

List Mgmt. 2020 List Management II

Bit disappointed re: Polson as I thought he showed more in two games as a back pocket than SPS has in two years. That’s not a high bar though.

Especially if list sizes are reduced to 38. Having "swingmen" will become the norm. Levi or McG can pinch hit at FB if needed. I wouldn't be surprised if they're contemplating McG as a long term option to replace Jones anyway.

Not happy with the Saad deal and would have preferred we held out longer as I think the pressure on Dodo would have been even greater....that being said, when SOS mentioned on radio the other day he was always in the mindset of "winning every trade", I would have preferred he said he was focused...

More than happy for the Blues to outline their demands to * and walk away if not met. You don't pay a premium for uncontracted players who want out. Providing he isn't willing to do a medical elsewhere, we'll land him in the PSD. Play the long game, Baggers.

I spotted FIGJAM on my morning walk around the Tan this morning and was very tempted to say something. Ironically, I'm fairly sure Treloar jogged passed me about five minutes earlier.

Hot Topic The Pres, CEO & the Board

This is a key component and appears to be lost on SOS (and a few on this board). Whatever went down behind closed doors was enough for multiple parties to think he needed to be moved on for the good of the club. In my experience, it's very rare that a personal pissing match between two...
