My grandma had a privileged Church of England childhood. She once said to me "We were C of E, darling. That didn't mean we had to believe in god or go to church. We just had to hate the catholics." She later married an Irish catholic and a few years later her hatred of Catholics grew...
Has he played more than 3 games in a row at any level yet. I don't think even the coaches are in a position to know what we've got with Kelly. But they've been pretty bullish about him in terms of both media comments and selection. He must tick boxes at training.
Not irrelevant to motivation and performance though. Eg. I think someone like Jeremy Howe probably had to be given time to learn he was a mediocre forward in order to fully embrace how good a defender he is.
It's definitely a valid argument, particularly as training for midfield will likely see him lose some of his size and thus ability to play on talls.
But if Maynard is really keen on getting a crack at midfield - I'd give him a go, as it's pretty easy to go style if you're doing the same role...
I read this a lot. Is it from things you've seen or just where he played when he was 18?
The brief snippets i've seen of him, I don't think he's a natural anything yet. Although I have seen a couple of launches at packs which make me think he might be suited to forward.
It's not that simple. An 18 point win can be smashing where the other team gets some goals back after the game is over, or it can be a ripping contest where one team kicks the last 3 goals in the last 5 minutes.
