I've argued this for years. Umpires make the same or arguably less amount of judgement errors that players do. And as the "authority figures" in the game, they're an easy target.
Making whinging punters made to umpire a game would be a reality show format I might actually watch.
Just to give the umpires some kudos, at least we don't see all those push-in-the-back frees when the player with the ball would basically flop so the tackler had no option but to fall in the back.
Hard to trade your star player after making playoffs and it's your first year in the GM chair though and ownership who love him. I can understand why. Schoen got enough flack for letting him walk, imagine if he'd made the trade...
Spot on. The issue wasn't letting Saquon go - letting him walk was the right call at the time (and yep, should've traded him earlier). His salary wasn't going to pay off for us. The issue was drafting him in the first place. Great player, but was disappointed when his name was called.
I think "best player available" is a crock. Draft boards are always swayed by team needs. as such, I'd discounted Reese on account of thinking him purely as a pass rusher. But if they think he might play more as an ILB then I can see it working. Maybe they're also thinking about losing one or...
