Get what you’re saying, but that’s one hell of a baptism of fire. He’s one of the best forwards in the comp. He’s more of a second tall really, not someone you’d expect to lock down a beast like that.
Fair enough mate. I think Young, for all his faults, usually goes alright locking down the opposition’s best forward. That’s a lot of responsibility to put on Dean or Derksen.
We're probably better off having Haynes or Gov take that matchup instead.
The Bagger Chat lads seem like really nice young blokes just having a crack. They’re not footy experts, and I’m not sure they claim to be. I don’t agree with everything they say, but I’ll often have it on in the background while making dinner for the family, and I think they deliver their...
Can’t argue too much with that, mate. I actually think Williams has pulled it together over the last couple of years. But not turning up fit, especially on a contract that big, does take the piss.
I’d still give him one last dance though.
I actually think you can still build around one elite contested beast who might be a bit slower. What you can’t do is stack the midfield with multiple guys of the same type. That’s where I think we’ve gone wrong at times playing Hewett and even Cerra inside. Cerra looked much better on the wing...
I’ve only seen clips of the TJP guys and, to be honest, that was more than enough to work out they’re a bunch of halfwits. Even joking about hitting girls is unacceptable in any context, joke or not. I hope the club takes it seriously.
Every club has people who bring shame to it. I don’t...
Agree. The only one I’d probably keep is Williams. I like that he can switch positions and still gives us some speed. He doesn’t need to play every week, but if he accepts a much lower contract — which he should — I think he can still contribute next year.
I'd like to see us continue gradually injecting more youth into the side and finding out who has what it takes.
Lord should come in for George. His output since returning hasn't been particularly significant, and with Lord being part of our future, it's worth giving him more senior experience...
I personally don't think the "go-home factor" for Tasmania will be as significant as many people expect.
I lived in Tasmania for a while and still have a number of friends from Tassie who now live in Melbourne. In my experience, a lot of people — including athletes — move interstate when...
Amartey isn't a world-beater, but he also wouldn't cost us any draft picks. Given how heavily we're going to attack the draft, we'll need to target players like this to fill specific gaps while making the most of the picks we have.
It would be similar to what Hawthorn did with Mabior Chol. He...
t's not really the long-term contracts for Walsh, Weitering, or McKay that bother me, to be honest. If we hadn't offered them long-term deals, other clubs would have. What frustrates me more are the dumb contracts handed out to D- and C-grade players, which end up taking up list spots or forcing...
