    Richmond were able to take a punt on Hotton because they had so many early picks. Geelong are in a position where they can be patient, most aren't.

    Yes but those academy bids were matched by picks in the 20s and 30s which have now disappeared

    My uneducated guess is we will trade out pick 19 for another pick in the 40s and a late F2 or early F3. We tried twice to trade out 19 for Curnow and Marshall, so doubt we rate the top end of the draft. Mikunda and Holmes with late picks, Mellor as a cat B and who knows with the rookie pick.

    If we can't get Lindsay or O Taylor, I would prefer to trade the pick out for an early F2 from Richmond, West Coast or North Melbourne

    Butters is the dream for me. Walsh comes across as super loyal and highly unlikely to leave Carlton.

    Afl.com saying cats will only have 2 selections in the national draft. Pick 19 and Mellor I assume and then add Rongdit onto the rookie list.

    Would rather make the minimum list changes this year and have more picks in next year's draft. Would prefer to keep Stevens and Closehy at least another year, but they may have more lucrative offers elsewhere

    In a weak draft, try and trade up to get and get the best Falcons kid of the last few years, Josh Lindsay. Better to do it now than trade multiple picks in a few years to get him home.
