    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2026

It's cyclical. A number of years with bare minimum junior numbers has meant the talent coming through hasn't been as good as years previous. The bare numbers are mainly due to the demographic of the area, coupled with the emergence of the PC clubs. This tide is turning however. 2025 saw good...

Re: Flanders, Petracca and St Kilda, I can see a world where our p7 goes to Melbourne and Flanders comes to us.

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

It's pie in the sky, but if JUH was offered with a substantial amount of salary paid for a future 1st (in one of the upcoming, heavily compromised drafts), you'd have to think about it wouldn't you?

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2025

100% PC's introduction has impacted Altona's junior program. It's getting back there though. Each year they are getting more and more junior sides and it won't be too long (3-5 years) before that production line cranks up again. In terms of this year, the U18's lost 3 or 4 very handy...

Autopsy 2025 Round 18: Swans swindle slow Saints

I really believe, particularly in the case of Wood, Sinclair and Wilkie, that King and Howard's respective extended absences has been a key contributing factor to their "drop off" Wood has had to play more or a key forward/target role, which he is not suited to, Wilkie has had to take a more...

Game Day Round 18 - St Kilda vs Sydney [Sunday 3.15pm]

I cannot remember the last time I've us kick a goal like that!

Autopsy Saints forget how to kick a ball and lose to Hawthorn.

Most probably have already seen this, but for me, being at the ground, it was really obvious how much a big key forward is missing from the line up. Sharman needs it out in front of him and we struggle to do that consistently. Keeler is young and lacks core strength, which will come, but for...

Autopsy Saints forget how to kick a ball and lose to Hawthorn.

Learn how to compete in the VFL, yes. But to learn how to play the game, see the patterns, encounter the intricacies, actually learn the game of AFL, you can't do that in the VFL. At this stage of the year, with nothing to play for, putting games in to talented kids is where we are at and what...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2025

The bull who left, went to a lower standard after giving their best to Altona. Not much in it I think.

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2025

I thought Altona was the better side in the 1st half by some margin, and had they been able to convert, the game would have been just about over. Altona's best will be very good. Consistency and lack of depth will be their problems. Based on a sample size of 1 to be fair

    2024 Draft Thread.

Just because, but grab best available at 7, and then grab Allan at 8, wait a couple of years and trade Allan, Collard and future 1sts for Reid.

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Some clubs "put the cue in the rack" and other clubs, such as Altona and Werribee were fortunate to have strong juniors at the time that allowed them to remain competitive. In Altona's case, during that period, I can only remember James Stephens (2013) and Patty Rose (2018-19) being significant...

    List Mgmt. 2024 Trade Thread - No.1

My 2 cents... Step 1 - If Battle is offered $1M+, let the bloke go, don't want him to go, but if we ended up with band 1 compo, it's a hard one to turn down. Step 2 - Trade our 2025 1RDP and 2024 2RDP to one of the sides that has 2 x 1DPs in 2024 (GC have 3, Freo have 3 and Syd have 2). Go...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

I agree re: Altona last week. Albeit I didn't see much. I do however disagree about making the 5. There is no clear standout and from an Altona perspective, have been in every game up to their eyeballs. They'll come good.
