I don't think anyone is suggesting that our forwards shouldn't run and chase. Just saying it's hard to kick goals from the half back line, and Matera's heat maps show that he doesn't spend very much time close to goal. -

Yes, you'll certainly see known superstar players still polling votes in losses, but very rarely anyone else. Cripps is in the top 3 of the votes and Carlton have only won 1 game so it does happen. But generally the majority of votes go to the winning side. I'd like to see the coaches give... -

Definite "often" though. This isn't the first time that it's happened this year. It's always kind of annoyed me that it's very difficult to get votes unless your team wins, even in a very close game. Hard to believe that in a game decided by only 9 points, the best 5 players on the ground were all Freo players. All of these voting system rapidly become a joke because of the apparent need to only award votes to players from the winning team.
