And with this exact scenario again, ie more players than picks to keep them all, i expect plenty of rival clubs to make a play for any that they consider worthy, and in doing so, keep em honest, either match the bid or lose them.

Yeah its possible and I hope clubs do indeed make GWS pay full price however they have proven to be smart operators and already have an abundance of early picks (3 inside 16/5 inside 33).

Add to this potential picks via trade period for the like of Marchbank and others and I dont see it happening.

Not just GWS, Gold Coast, Sydney, and Brisbane all have academies with promising talent, leave no stone unturned should be our list managers motto ;)

Will 100% be getting down to this game. will be a genuine ripper and a great glimpse of the future

That is true however Wagner was somewhat of a special case as the Lions had just selected "slider" Mathieson at pick 39 and im pretty sure we suspected that they might not have both the combination of room on their list and point currency left to "match" the Wagner bid at 43.

And it is my official understanding the Lions were sick to lose out on Wags and thought they had hidden him enough. They gambled against the system, they lost.

It's a shame it's still the junk teams that "lose" though.

Mathieson could turn out to be great for them thus I wouldnt put them in the "lose" category just yet.

Stats for some of the guys from the TAC GF:

Taranto = 31 Disposals (17HB, 14 kicks), 11 tackles, 7 marks, 3 behinds
Florent = 24 Disposals ( 10HB, 14 kicks), 5 tackles, 5 marks, 1 goal 2 behinds
McGrath = 38 Disposals ( 25 HB, 13 kicks) 3 tackles , 4 marks
Scrimshaw = 24 Disposals ( 11HB, 13 kicks) 5 tackles, 3 marks, 1 goal 1 behind
H.Brayshaw = 14 Disposals (4HB, 8 kicks) 3 tackles, 6 marks, 2 goals 2 behinds
Krakauer = 12 Disposals (5 HB, 7 kicks) 2 tackles, 1 mark, 2 goals
Sakeson = 21 Disposals (10 HB, 11 kicks) 2 tackles, 9 marks
Lyons = 24 Disposals (10HB, 14 kicks) 2 tackles, 4 marks, 1 goal

Garthwaite = 24 Disposals (7HB, 17 kicks) 6 tackles, 9 marks
Brodie = 22 Disposals (8HB, 14 kicks) 6 tackles, 5 marks, 3 behinds
Spargo = 24 Disposals (12HB, 12 kicks) 5 tackles, 4 marks

Fair point. They thought they could have both though.

O'laughlin must be confident, going in with only 14 in the under 18's.

At least he has the Big Bird playing in the 17's.

Good footballer, but don't think he fits our age profile. Is suited to playing as an inside mid as well.
Yeah, was thinking he might not be the right fit for us at the moment but deserves a shot and think he'd be good for the right team.

A couple of other players to note:
Charlie Spargo is a gun - shame Paul didn't get to 100 games for us. Is a bottom age kid and played really well in GF.
Joe Atley is also a gun - different sort of player to brother Shaun - more inside mid.
Kayne Turner's cousin also led the Murray Bushies - Isaac Wallace (#15) - but didn't have a fantastic game in GF. He had a very bad leg fracture early in the year & missed the national carnivals etc so is off the radar a bit. He rehabbed really well and got back into the bushies later in the year and was playing well up to the GF. Have watched him since he was 11 or 12 and has the same ferocious attack as Sugar but wins more of his own ball and uses it well. Would not be disappointing to see him as a "Gary Ziebell" recruit this year. He does barrack for Collingwood and his sister is soon to marry Jack Crisp so there's a bit of pull there, but Jack & Gary both barracked for Collingwood before Jack was drafted to us too.

2016 Stats for Isaac Wallace.

Shai Bolton is becoming the latest draft bolter excuse the pun. Looking more and more like a top 15 pick

Is Spargo in the draft this yr. If so what range would he be picked up at
