Looks like every team that won the toss elected to field and the batting side is doing OK at the moment. SA bowled first on a day-nighter, with the experience from the last one we played and the likelihood that batting will be difficult late in the day when you can declare and get the other team in, maybe this wasn't such a great idea. WA 9/271 and SA 2/16.
Vic 4/373 against Tasmania so putting them in backfired there.
NSW 7/327 and QLD 1/50 at stumps. Good score but it depends on what QLD can do.

SA lose their first wicket on day 2 and it's the nightwatchman Mennie after a stand of 73 with Ferguson. 3/76, not a great score but could have been so much worse after 2/6 after 6 overs and 2/16 at stumps. 60 runs were added in 11.2. Cooper is recorded as coming in after Lehmann and Carey, seems a bit of a strange order?

Now 3 for 164: Travis Head seems intent on reaching a double century in record time, as he's raced to 49 off just 36 balls. It may be a smart tactic, because batting late in the day against the pink ball appears far more difficult than in daylight hours.

The Perth Test is just 8 days away, and several batsmen are putting their hand up. Joe Burns has an unbeaten ton, while Khawaja and Shaun Marsh scored scored 70's. There may be some unlucky boys, come selection day.

Still 35 overs remaining today - I reckon we should give them 15 tricky overs tonight (unless we're bowled out before that): no opening batsman would want face a new pink ball in those circumstances.

The umpires should hurry them up - teams always manage to get in these last overs but they shouldn't be allowed to slow the game down in the meantime as a tactic to get batsmen out. This was what the Windies used to do when they bowled 80 overs in a day when they were packed with quicks.

Different rules should apply for day/night games. I mean, it's not as if the batting team can appeal against the light - no matter how long it takes, the full 90 overs MUST be bowled.

SA leads by 119. Tom Cooper 102 no and Alex Carey 47 no.
With a minimum 12 overs left and some to come off for the innings break it is possible SA may not declare but grind WA down with as big a lead as they can and 5 sessions left.

Lead is now 169 with 7 overs remaining. Carey and Cooper have put the foot down and scored 50 in the last 5 overs. A lead of over 200 by stumps seems a formality now and they could even get to 500 by stumps.

EDIT : Cooper and Carey slowed up a bit and then got out but Richardson and Sayers have added 12 so far and with 2 wickets and 2 days left SA lead by 203.

9 for 505 declared, a lead of 234. Get Shaun Marsh, Bancroft and Voges fairly cheaply, and we've got this. Easier said than done though - they're fine players.

Massive partnership building in Brisbane. The Blues started their second innings 3 runs behind: Cowan and Warner have taken the score to 0 for 227.
