I'll start of by saying my bad if this in the wrong thread
I was thinking today about players who have been on the AFL circuit but played stuff all games I.E
Luke Lowden was at Hawthorn from 2009-2014 played 1 game then was at Adelaide and didn't play a game at all from 2015-2016
Surely there are ore players out there who would of been on a list for a long time but not managed to crack a senior appearance...

Daniel Currie, drafted in 2006 and didn't debut until 2014.

I remember looking at the scores in the reserves each week during the 90's and Julien Kirzner seemed to kick a bag each week and was around for a while but never got a game. I looked up AFL tables and he played 4 games in 5 years across 3 clubs.

Corey Gault - Drafted by Collingwood with pick 65 in the 2011 draft.

Didn't play in 2012 or 2013, 1 game in 2014, 3 games in 2015 and two games in 2016.

Finally delisted this year.

Drafted 2009. Game tally

2010 – none
2011 – 3
2012 – none
2013 – none
2014 – none
2015 – 2
2016 – 9

Has had a wretched run with injuries, probably just as much as Menzel tbh but hasn't received the same fanfare (for want of a better word). Good to see him string some time together this year

Daniel Currie, drafted in 2006 and didn't debut until 2014.

Five seasons with Sydney (2007-2011), a year in the SANFL with North Adelaide, then three seasons with North Melbourne (2013-2015), and a year with the Gold Coast (2016). Was always a main list played (never rookie listed), but didn't make his AFL debut until his 7th season on a list. Not contracted for next year, but was probably the Suns' best ruckman this year in the limited exposure he got, so might go around again next year.

I made a thread a long time ago called 'Players Who Missed Numerous Games Through Injury or Poor Form', which tries to document some of the great list-cloggers and injury-prone hangers-on the game has seen, but I haven't updated it in ages, and there's certainly a lot of names that could be added to it now.

One that always gets me is Dean Wallis. Played 127 of a possible 353 games (including finals) (35.98% of club games) in 15 seasons with Essendon (1987-2001). Played in two flags (1993, 2000), and was known for being a tough "enforcer", but never amassed 20 disposals in a single game, and it took beyond half way into his 13th season for his only 4 goal performance. Also had five separate seasons where he played two or less senior games (1990, 1994, 1995, 1998, 2001), and another three where he played less than 10 senior games (1989, 1991, 1993), and played more than 13 games in a season just twice (1999, 2000), in his 13th and 14th seasons. Bizarre career at senior level, to say the least. Would love to know how many games he racked up at Reserves level (or what major injuries he had that held him back), and what his form was like there, but obviously this info is nearly non-existent.

Haha, isn't "enforcer" often a nice way of referring to a thug?

Also, I swear there's a much bigger thread on this similar to yours already on this board.

Also his w/l record is 13/1, the only loss being the prelim this year.

Only thing I think of when Dean Wallis' name comes up is him trying to take on Fraser Brown and failing miserably in the 99 Prelim against Carlton. I hesitate to say one moment in a 2 hour game is the reason for a loss, but boy, it's hard not to think that when you see it!

Darren Bartsch played 0 games but was on the list of 5 clubs all before retiring at age 25 (West Coast, Geelong, Adelaide, Brisbane & Essendon)

More focused on his fledgling car sales career, apparently.

Brad Smith spent two years on Richmond's list (1996-1997) then the next three years on Collingwood's list. After 5 years he finally cracked it for his debut in Round 12 2000 and was never seen at senior level again.

Jarrad Redden was on the Port list for 7 years (2009-2015) and only managed 16 games. He was drafted in the 2008 draft and didnt debut until 2012. Played 15 games in 2012 and 2013 but was struck down with multiple knee injuries. He finally returned for 1 game in 2015 but wasnt up to AFL standard unfortunately and was delisted at the end of 2015.

Jonathan Giles can squeeze in the list
Port Adelaide
2006 - 0
2007 - 0
2008 - 0
2009 - 0

GWS
2012 - 20
2013 - 22
2014 - 9 (First Giant to 50 games and never played again for them after his 51st)

Essendon
2015 - 3

West Coast
2016 - 4
2017 - 5

It's pretty obvious most of these players have something in common. They're really tall! They can sit on lists and do practically nothing for years but are retained in case of an emergency, as clubs don't tend to have a lot of really tall players on their books. The shorter players have to prove themselves within at least a few years or they're normally dispensed with!!

Also add these 2 all be it Keeffe got suspended for 2 years i believe?
Lachlan Keeffe
2009–2017 40 games
Shaun McKernan
2009-2017 40 games
