agree - the crap that goes on in here......

I think the point may have been that maybe the football department didn't want to share 'The Work in Progress'. I mean, it's always a work in progress and shouldn't really matter, but for some reason it does.

I'm sure you're right. But I still think it's the one obvious stupid decision  amongst a sea of terrific decisions in recent years. What have we really got to lose? Increased membership and excitement among supporters? It's not going to make any difference to how many games we win this year.

If we had open sessions every session would it really matter?

1- would opposition clubs even care?
2- half the ground that teams train on are open to then public at all times due to location

Collingwood, Melbourne, North, Richmond, Hawthorn etc.

I just want to read some positive spin in this thread.

Let Bolton train the boys the way he wants to train them. Let him try and keep the game plan as secretive as possible. Let him have the greatest chance of improving this team.

When the wins start coming, then the fluffy media articles start flowing and then memberships take off.

Training reports are nice, but wins are nicer.

Early impressions: How your club's first-years are faring

Last year's No.6 draft pick Sam Petrevski-Seton has enjoyed an impressive summer. A smart player with good game sense, he has quickly picked up the Blues' game style, while his work ethic is also very good. Fellow midfielder Zac Fisher, 175cm, is slight of build but hasn't held back in match practice. A true competitor, the West Australian puts his head over the ball, wins his own possessions and tackles with intent. Defender/wingman Tom Williamson has shown glimpses of line-breaking run and overhead strength, while key forward Pat Kerr is developing quickly enough to suggest he could have an impact later this season.

The standout: It will be another year of opportunity for Carlton's youngsters and no first-year player is better placed than Petrevski-Seton to break into the Blues' senior team early in 2017. - Nick Bowen

Nothing new here.

I don't know what to expect up forward, I just hope the young guys can stay healthy, kick some goals and show promise.
amazingly we got 14 th last year, pretty much rebounding off at times a pretty solid defence and ulitizing our midfield as well as possible with what we had.now that was clever strategy off Bolts to extract wins !......pretty much from nothing
Wright was our only consistent standout with some good footy skills forward.support wise a few of the kids chipped in and and we also had a few players in the team without a pre season who played most of the year.
That is why i think we can go 14 th again this year or even slightly better....it adds up, specially with more competition for forward spots coming up where there should be inroads in lifting our attack to Afl standard.Hopefully big H will be there early on in the season and cement a spot at Full forward? Pickett - is he training well, will he be fit? Can Sumner bring some A grade skills this year ? Will Charlie cement Center half forward for himself? Can Smedts contribute from a forward pocket? Can Jack improve this year ?

There are some improved options for 2017 !......
