Nah, we just think the support for him was enough to win a democratic election, like every other president before him.

Quit the mental gymnastics. He has a mandate. Stop crying. You get another crack at it in four years.

Better look up definition of mandate mate.

Alternative facts aren't going to help him with that. ;)

-the authority to carry out a policy, regarded as given by the electorate to a party or candidate that wins an election.

When the majority of voters say they agree with your opponent instead of you, you don't have much of a mandate.

Now - the Republicans as a whole could argue they do, considering the scale of their success in the house of reps.

MILLIONS of taxpayers’ dollars will be used to buy seven-year-old trams to service the expanded city network, the State Government has revealed.
The three trams – built in 2010 – will help carry passengers on the network that is set to grow this year with an extra 100m of line down King William Rd to the Festival Plaza and along North Tce to the East End. The State Government confirmed yesterday it was planning to spend its $15 million budget on three French-built Citadis trams from Madrid’s transport body, MINTRA. But the Opposition said the old trams were being bought for an inflated price because they could be delivered in time for next year’s state election in March. Opposition spokesman David Pisoni said the New South Wales and ACT governments were buying newly built trams of similar capacity for $3.2 million each. “The Government is saying it’s building first-class public transport but it’s buying seven-year-old trams to meet a political deadline,” Mr Pisoni said. “They said the new tram lines would be completed by the end of this year and so they need the extra trams, but they can’t get new ones in that time frame. “Obviously the intention is not having the best tram service but timing the cutting of the ribbon.”

This is from someone else's Quora post, and I offer it with no comment.

Just a reminder of where we found ourselves at the START of this American Presidency.

In 2008, the United States was losing 800,000 jobs a month and was poised to lose at least 10 million jobs the first year once the new President took office. We were in an economic free-fall.

Since much of the rhetoric before Obama was elected was that he would impose Sharia Law, Take Away Your Guns, Create Death Panels, Destroy the Economy, Impose Socialism and, since you will agree that NONE of this came to pass, we should look at those things which did.

Gays and Lesbians can now marry and enjoy the benefits they had been deprived of.

When Obama took office, the Dow was 6,626. Now it is 19,875.

We had 82 straight months of private sector job growth – the longest streak in the history of the United States.

Especially considering where he the economy was when he took over, an amazing 11.3 million new jobs were created under President Obama (far more than President Bush).

Obama has taken Unemployment from 10% down to 4.7%.

Homelessness among US Veterans has dropped by half.

Obama shut down the US secret overseas prisons.

President Obama has created a policy for the families of fallen soldiers to have their travel paid for to be there when remains are flown home.

We landed a rover on Mars.

He passed the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

Uninsured adults has decreased to below 10%: 90% of adults are insured – an increase of 20 Million Adults.

People are now covered for pre-existing conditions.

Insurance Premiums increased an average of $4,677 from 2002-2008, an increase of 58% under Bush. The growth of these insurance premiums has gone up $4,145 – a slower rate of increase.

Obama added Billions of dollars to mental health care for our Veterans.

Consumer confidence has gone from 37.7 to 98.1 during Obama’s tenure.

His bi-annual Nuclear Summit convinced 16 countries to give up and destroy all their loose nuclear material .

He saved the US Auto industry. American cars sold at the beginning of his term were 10.4M and upon his exit 17.5M.

The deficit as a percentage of the GDP has gone from 9.8% to 3.2%.

The deficit itself was cut by $800 Billion Dollars.

Obama preserved the middle class tax cuts.

Obama banned solitary confinement for juveniles in federal prisons.

He signed Credit Card reform so that rates could not be raised without you being notified.

He outlawed Government contractors from discriminating against LGBT persons.

Abortion is down.

Violent crime is down.

He overturned the scientific ban on stem cell research.

He protected Net Neutrality.

Obamacare has extended the life of the Medicare insurance trust fund (will be solvent until 2030).

He banned torture.

He negotiated with Syria to give up its chemical weapons and they were destroyed.

Solar and Wind Power are at an all time high.

High School Graduation rates hit 83% – an all time high.

Corporate profits are up by 144%.

He normalized relations with Cuba.

Reliance on foreign oil is at a 40 year low.

US Exports are up 28%.

He reduced the number of troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes, he killed Osama Bin Laden and retrieved all the documents in his possession for analysis.

Why is he having a rally? He's already POTUS, doesn't need to keep campaigning.
To stroke his ego.

The media are doing their job and pointing out his governments faults. His anti-media campaign is an exercise to quell criticism and belongs in a communist country not a democracy.

a low approval rating isn't going to get him kicked out of the oval office.
Not directly.. but it could well end up doing so indirectly.

There is already more than enough ammunition to justify impeaching him, on the basis of him enriching himself through payments from foreign governments. That was the case even before his inauguration. Congress and the Senate can pull the trigger on him anytime they're ready. The only thing saving him is the fact that the GOP (Republicans) have control of both houses.

His impeachment is a near certainty if the Democrats win the mid-term elections. It may even happen if the GOP see poll numbers indicating their likely decimation, and they take proactive steps to prevent that from happening.

Pence would be a far more palatable President for the GOP

Yeah. He's still not great from humanity - he's crazy religious, so he has some far out views - but at least he's not ridiculously unpredictable.

guy is a lunatic.

in the Bebelplatz in Berlin - where the Nazi's carried out a book burning ceremony in 1933 (three years before the Berlin Olympics) with special guest Joseph Goebbels - there is a memorial plaque among the paving stones that has a quote from German writer Heinrich Heine from a play he wrote in 1820:

That was only a prelude,
where they burn books,
they will in the end also burn people.

wonder what he'd make of Trump's lying, post-truth, alternate fact future?

How has his policy implementation been working out so far as it regards to the only thing he really tried to do--namely immigration?

See in this country there are checks and balances to curb authoritarian impulses that a guy who won less than a third of the electorate might have.

He has no mandate other than in his imagination ;)

Genuine question for you... As an American, what specific problems did you have with his executive order on immigration? And did you have any problems with Obama's list of seven nations?

And to the rest of the Australian posters frothing at the mouth at Trump's relatively modest 90 day moratorium proposal, do you have issues with our immigration policies being, as Scott Morrison calls them, "the envy of the world?"

Many of the 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, so shouldn't they be one of the listed nations...
