You're missing a no.6.

Oops haha, at the moment I would say Maxwell.

But that could definitely change, could see the keeper being moved up to No.6 if we wanted to play Pattinson as well for that fearsome foursome.

I do expect to see Travis Head given a go there soon depending on Maxwell's form.

Smokies would be Hilton Cartwright again (just as a specialist batter I rate him highly, which is what he is for WA), Jake Lehmann, Ashton Turner.

Wade has worked hard on his keeping, but it still isn't first grade, and his batting isn't as good as alleged.

I like his chirp, but he doesn't really back it with gloves or bat.

I like the look of Whiteman, but know little about Carey. He look the goods?

This is what Carey was able to do in his first full Shield season at South Australia (after being behind Ludeman for a while). Broke the all-time Shield record with 59 dismissals in a season.

"Alex Carey has eclipsed the record of one his childhood heroes and joined a club started by Adam Gilchrist, after the South Australia wicketkeeper broke the all-time Sheffield Shield single-season dismissals record in Alice Springs."

Carey also reached 500 runs for the Shield season and I think I read somewhere he is only the 4th keeper in Shield history with 500+ runs & 50+ dismissals in a season.

25 years old so definitely keep an eye on him!

Whiteman was dropped so nowhere near it atm, would have to see Carey's average as it seems wicketkeeping is secondary, otherwise Hartley would have been our keeper given he's easily the best gloveman.

Whiteman definitely strikes me as more a short form keeper/batsman so that would be his best bet for playing for Australia but definitely behind a few in the pecking order.

I always thought it was the other way around with Carey, more a great keeper who needs to work on consistently scoring more runs which he's started doing in his first full season of Shield cricket this season.

Yep Hartley was fantastic, just retired :'( Looking forward to seeing how the next QLD keeper goes :thumbsu:

Pattinson in some ripping form with the bat. Averages 47 over his last 6 matches. With this in mind and the improved ability of starc and cummins with the bat as well could we be looking at going with 5 bowlers in the ashes?

Warner
Renshaw
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Wade
Starc
Pattinson
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon

Im pretty excited about the prospect of the 4 paceman together.

Very excited with Pattinson's recent batting form! Think it will depend on how well Maxwell starts the next Shield season. If he gets a couple centuries in a couple games reckon they'll stick with him at 6 with only 3 out of 4 of the pace bowlers in. If Maxi starts the season off pretty poorly think they'll have no problem dropping him, moving Wade up and having Patto at 7.

Team1:
Warner, Renshaw, Khawaja, Smith, Handscomb, Maxwell, Wade, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon (12th man Patto).

Team2:
Warner, Renshaw, Khawaja, Smith, Handscomb, Wade, Pattinson, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon (12th man Maxi).

Either team has me excited! If Maxi is in great form it's fantastic for Aussie cricket to have a good No.6 + the fielding he brings is amazing.

But then just seeing Starc, Cummins & Pattinson all bowling to the Poms would be incredible too all hitting 150km speeds along with Hazlewood 140km line and length!

Think I'm going to the Adelaide Day/Night as well as the Boxing Day Test, bring on the Ashes!

Good point on Maxwell. Him in form is a very exciting addition to the test team

Think I may have broken a record already and it's only early in the season too...

In Canberra Grade Cricket, I've had 3 innings... for 2 diamond ducks...

My excuse is I'm a bowler and the run-outs weren't my fault ;)

My Dad and I are going to the first couple days of the Boxing Day Test :)

Never been to a Boxing Day Ashes Test!

Thinking about going; but not sure how id go sitting there for the whole day...
I've been to boxing day several times... and never once sat there for the day :D

You lads missed out on a great ACT 1st Grade T20 Grand Final at Manuka Oval last night, unfortunately we (Weston Creek) lost :'(

And now I have secured 5 tickets for the cricket in Sydney to go with my flights and accom...

* the bank balance has taken some damage the last 24 hours
