I'm sure some of you have heard of the band Nirvana? Released an album called nevermind a while back?

If you've ever read Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon - and you should - you'll notice one of his many poems:

"Ah, they do bother him,
these free women in their teens,
their spirits are so contagious,
I'll tell you it's just -out, -ray, -juss,
Spirit is so -con, -tay, -juss,
Nobody knows their a-ges..."

and yes it turns out 'apparently' Kurt Cobain was a big fan of the book

The Simpsons: 'Well the Kids will have to learn about TekWar sooner or later.'

Catcher of the Rye has played a role in many films and murders/murder attempts.

Castle Rock Entertainment was set up by Rob Reiner as a tribute to Stephen King and the fictional town many of his stories take place.

'Orwellian' due to 1984 and Animal Farm.

'Lolita' as a description.

War and Peace referenced in relation to something that's long to read/write.
