Macron vs Le Pen in the second round. Be a tragedy if Macron loses.

Surprised Fillon got as many votes as he did. Guess conservatives couldn't bring themselves to vote for an ex-Socialist or Nazi. They'll have to decide now.
Fillon gained big time in the final couple of weeks. Did a decent job of restoring his reputation. The natural step would be to Macron, but people do funny things on their own in polling booths.

Have any of you actually looked into Le Pen's economic policies?

Would fit side by side with Chevez's Venezuela

Increase pensions, tax the rich, nationalise banks and state industries

But no .... she's eeeeeeevil, she's a racist, she's a nazi, she's FAR-RIGHT all because she was to cut immigration and kick out Muslims

She's a populist nationalist not a far-right fascist

She's probably the most centrist of all the candidates when you put them all together

Why surprised? He was the leader of a major party. Doesn't matter how badly the liberals will go they still will get a lot of votes here.

All religions are political religions. Christianity currently fights abortion, gay rights and many other causes.
Islam is different the Quran sets out ways of politics, law and economics more so then any other main stream religion. Christianity just sets a morale guide, which then can influence politics.

Islam laughs at fighting gay rights. Homosexuals in Islamic countries are simply done away with.

Without labouring a point that none of you will accept, a vast number of Muslims live in Europe because they disagree with their country's politics, or were persecuted by their own governments.

Its childish to suggest that every Muslim person agrees with radical interpretations of the Koran.

New World trend has clearly emerged. Just like the 80s saw Neo Liberalism and Free Market Privatised Everything (either left or right most of the world did it. Keating, Thatcher, Reagan, diiferent parties the same policy) what we are seeing now is a peeling back.

Trump, Brexit, the French people have had enough of the Status Quo and have felt let down by the Political Establishment and Ultra Globalist Policies that take their jobs and render them poor. Same thing here with political inertia corresponding with High High High House Prices, Homelessness and lack of jobs.

Le Pen even wants to bring back the Franc apparently. Wouldn't surprise if Le Pen won.

One thing you are seeing thou is finally in certain countries you are seeing a point of difference.

Most people do accept that.

It really hasn't. Brexit happened, Trump happened. Austria and Holland have rejected this trend. France is next. The only reason Le Pen is being taken more seriously than her father in '02 is wariness about the capacity for another Trump surprise.

R1 polls were eerily accurate. Lets see how R2 shapes up.

How did being the leader of a major party go for Hamon?
Hamon is a radical backbencher who beat Valls to the punch. If Valls had run, he'd probably have hit double figures in the voting percentages. Fillon is a political stalwart who was hot favourite and only ruined by Penelopegate in the end. Besides, Hollande's approval rating was so low that the establishment was always going to swing towards his logical opponent.

Hollande, through a mixture of policy and circumstance, killed off the socialist ticket for this election. They'll be back in 2022, I'm sure.

Hamon and Montebourg (who came third behind Valls in the primary) were both in Valls' first cabinet.

I was lucky enough to bet on both so I'm happy enough either way, but I really don't see a path for Le Pen here. The Melenchon non-endorsement helps a bit but I don't think it's enough. This would be an even bigger upset than Trump if she takes it.

Who said that every Muslim agrees? Plenty don't, but they're in the minority or impotent because most Islamic governments at best ban, or at worst execute homosexuals. Are there any that don't? Maybe Indonesia, that'd probably be it.

The Ottomans legalised homosexuality over 150 years ago. I'd say it's legal/not illegal in around 20 or so Muslim-majority countries/territories. They're not all ISIS/Saudi Arabia-esque Sharia states y'know. ;)

The death penalty exists for homosexuals in about 11 countries, all Islamic. There are anti-gay laws in 76 countries, many of which are also Islamic. Then there's the reason speight of hardline Islamism in the sub-continent in particular which has targeted homosexuals amongst other groups, or the gay concentration camps in Chechnya which have recently emerged. The situation in Islamic states is still appalling and widespread.

It is indeed appalling and I ain't gonna deny or defend that, but it's also disingenuous and lazy to lump all Muslim-majority nations into one basket of Sharia-loving gay-killers. With regards to Chechnya, don't expect anything to change there anytime soon given Putin and Kadyrov's bromance. As long as the Chechens don't cause any trouble, Putin and the Kremlin aren't going to give two shits about gay concentration camps.
