Autopsy Round 13 vs Brisbane

I can't see a spot for Trengove if Howard or Eddy come in.

Sad isn't it. Seems consistent that Ken would play Eddy or Howard at CHB instead of Trengove, so yeah, trengove in a spot of bother.

Maybe he could become a centre square midfielder like Dixon?

I will invoke the power of rock legend poet and visionary Bruce Springsteen when I quote

The change was made uptown
And the big man joined the band
From the coastline to the city
All the little pretties raised their hands

A good big man changes everything!

Trengove should not be dropped as much as he should be playing in the back lines. Convention has it that the back up ruck man plays in the forward line.

Going to be very interesting if Howard gets a bag of goals. What is the bet that we play Howard in the back lines this week to save some embarrassment.

You like him at CHF because What you are seeing him do is this foreign concept called "leading".

Compare to Charlie the tree Dixon, standing with his arms up and 3 defenders hanging off his limbs. So of course he looks better.

Until he kicks it to Jake Neade standing under 2 taller defenders.

All you need to do is put another tall GENUINE FORWARD in the forward line with him to foil for him. But we know Ken refuses to do that.

He will when rotating 2 of trengove, Ryder and westhoff in there without Dixon, or west Hoff for a few minutes with him.

Otherwise his preference is 4-5 smalls in the forward line.

It's just pure stubbornness. Ken knows better.

Now you could put a case he does. But not when you look at the performance and his track record. Maybe he is a good coach. But playing a game with a nonsensical forward line structure is like going into the V8 supercars race with a v8 but turning 2 cylinders off. I mean, why would you do that?

So yes, Charlie leads, marks, turns kicks looks great. Almost like tredrea right.

But he's kicking that to Jake neade. Let that sink in.

We have Brett Eddy. We have Howard. We have others.

But we are using Jake neade as the tactical foil for Charlie Dixon, pushing him 70, 80.....100! Metres from goal.

There is no logic to this

That stuck out like a dog's cajones when Charlie was up the ground and the ball was kicked in high to either Sam Gray or Neade.

What sort a bullshit offensive tactic is that?

We have been terrible in the last two weeks, however we are sitting 4th. It's gotta be a big positive knowing that we have so much room for improvement and are still sitting 4th. Whether we can make that required improvement is a different story, but you can't help but be slightly optimistic.

Before I went to sleep, I checked the Tigers-Swans score and thought the Tigers had won it — even though Sidney was fighting back. Gosh, I was wrong...

In fairness to that, it isn't like Tredrea had a proper tall forward to kick it to either. Chad Cornes for a few years being just ok then nobody.

Well it's psychological/ mental.

We tried it last week vs Essen Don it didn't work. Try it right after half time against Brisbane prove it works right.

I'd like to know if Dixon did it last week because we were SO leaderless and rudderless he was just trying to impose something (applause if so), and, where did the instruction for this one come from?

Very interesting

Something that has probably gone under the radar to this point in the season is the development of Tom Clurey. He has become a super dependable player and inked his name in as starting full back every week. Deserves more credit than he gets.

3 players at least being played out of position and not enjoying it. Trengove, Hartlett and Boak. Would love to see a game with them playing back where they belong and see how we go. Boak shoehorned into the role that had people baying for Ebo's blood is infuriating. Put Trengove back where he belongs. Hartlett pushes forward and kicks a 50m goal. Who would have thunk it?
That's what I want to see plus at least another tall forward.

Congratulations, thanks and kudos to your club for raising money and awareness for the Childhood Cancer Association yesterday. Hope all those who went along bought an Elliot.

Oh by the way, coming to the ground I was given a complementary bottle of the sponsor's Oakplus (coffee flavour). After tasting it I was glad it was complimentary.

Nice use of complementary and complimentary to make sure the right word was used at least once. ;)

This.

Hombsch has been some terrible blunders this season, 2 big mistakes against West Coast led to easy goals which essentially cost us that game. His fake chase of a Brisbane forward into the goal square yesterday was reminiscent of Hartletts fake chase the week before.

Should be lining up for the Magpies next week with either Howard or Logan Austin coming in.

Is there a kicking coach, specialist, working with the players? If there is, fire him! If there isn't, why not hiring one?!
Like a bakery sending the apprentice to Woolies to buy buns for morning tea. "Has anyone here ever kicked a football? Oh yeah, everybody."

You will get used to that, they and norf have a history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Sometimes they do it before the game even starts. For reference, I draw your attention to the 2014 Elimination Final against Port at Adelaide Oval. In spite of the gale force wind blowing to the southern end of the ground, the Tiges captain won the toss and elected to kick into the wind in the first quarter. They got their arses handed to them.

That is reason for the hashtags

I felt for Young who picked up 37 possessions and 5 goals running all over Alberton then he's jammed into a forward pocket for nine touches and a couple of goals.

If that's all the coaches want then play Marshall. He could do that and it would be investing in the future.

If a midfielder can't be squeezed into the midfield then he should play for the Magpies. It's that simple.
