2019 R9 at home v Gold Coast and and we see Billy's breakout game. Used as our FF and against a good defence he scored 3G 1B.
For posterity it was Billy's 2nd AFL game (the 1st being R23 2018).
Whats this bloke worth? out of contract if i understand. We're desperate for a young-ish KPF/Ruck, this bloke just can't get in it seems
Yep, see Contracted Players.... out of contract if i understand .....
We probably still would have lost but not by that much! Jonas and Burton are not key defenders! We can’t beat the top teams without Aliir zoning off and spoiling/marking/rebounding. Him being freed up to do this would have completely changed the game. Blind Freddy could see we were way too short down back!Nah throw Clurey/Lord/Doull/Rance/Fletcher/Wakelin in to that 22 and we still get beaten. Billy was average at best and regularly got beaten.
Jonas is a liability and past it. Slow plodder offering zero rebound with poor skills. If Hinkley had any idea Jonas does not play next week at a minimum. We probably still would have lost but not by that much! Jonas and Burton are not key defenders! Out Jonas before BergmanWe lost against the Pies before the game began; at the selection table! Ironically a defender of Billy’s size is exactly what we needed to counter the height of Cox, Cameron, McStay and Mihocek. We don’t have a gorilla full back… but Clurey, Finlayson, Lord or Pasini would have been better than going in without a McKenzie replacement! Boak as a sub was also a confusing selection choice! We were absolutely killed aerially! Aliir is an attacking defender and we lost a key weapon by trying to play him as a lockdown defender!
At a minimum:
Out: Bergman, Fantasia, Burgoyne
In: Clurey, Finlayson, Boak
I reckon Collingwood would've watched his Ballarat game in the back line for Adelaide & thought he'd fit in with their style.
He'll never be a great one on one defender but they don't want that from him.
Im not gonna lie a little part of me will be happy for him still somehow.Billy Frampton could well be an AFL premiership season player by end of September, if Collingwood keep playing the same way and same success.
