Smith, pick 24 and 2018 2nd rd for pick 11 and 2018 3rd rd. how the hell did GWS agree do that ?
Hopefully because they know he has chronic knee injuries that will see him play one-in-three games at * before being delisted...

Can't imagine GWS caring to do that deal as it's almost as good as a give-away.
Maybe if we do them another favour, then maybe. Maybe.

GWS paid up for Hopper and Kelly. Imagine their Cap is fairly tight so moving these guys on and replacing through this years draft with low cost draftees is necessary. GWS draft picks start at #23 so #38 would still be very useful.

Really didn't expect such trades to go down that quick

I think clubs have gotten better at setting deadlines during the trade period

This frees things up so other trades can now potentially get into action

Because they were desperate to get into the first round with all the Whitfield penalty stuff. They know they'll end up with enough 2nd/3rd round picks at the end of trade period that those picks don't matter so much to them. They just want to keep a couple of high end talent young kids rolling in each year.

Adelaide might have a nibble at Gibbs now they have 2 firsts this yr and next

So can SOS get two 1st picks from next year then? guessing thats unlikely given the great SA kids coming through!

Might get a pick for Cameron which could mean 5 first round picks! Surely they hand over 2 for an A grader.

Especially as its a poor draft

Arguably better to cash some picks in for proven haven't

And also they are on the cusp of a flag, at least in their eyes, so that would play into their minds too

I thought Adelaide said they wouldn't be pursuing Gibbs any further?

Agree, would be insane for them to not have a massive crack and try bring in elite talent, they are knocking on the door. Would love if we could snare next years Melbourne pick.
