Wouldnt be surprised if he ends up at the swans and becomes a gun, they have form when it comes to turning shite into something very good.

Plenty of failures along the way, though - Talia, Derickx, Brockman, Morton, Spangher, Brennan, Armstrong, Playfair, Edwards...

It seems several clubs are chasing Jack so we will see what transpires over coming days. He would be a handy pickup provided the price is not ridiculous. Melbourne may need to deal with a team like the Swans given their need to do a deal with Adelaide for Lever. If he wants the Swans then will they give up their No 14 pick for him? It could get interesting. I believe that Jack will be in Sydney early this week meeting with the Club so the big sell about Sydney lifestyle and culture will be on.

You're calling Premiership "two goals in ten minutes" player Morton a failure? Derickx, Edwards & Spangher were never more than cover/depth, Playfair cruelled by injuries then coached reserves and as an assistant and now highly regarded and a possible senior coach. Talia we couldn't rattle the flog out of him.

Please. We do better than most at recycling players. McGlynn, JPK, Mumford, Sinclair, Maxfield, Davis, Shaw, Hall, Jolly, Mattner, Richards, Laidler.

Swans GM Football, Tom Harley, seemed to deny interest in Watts on radio today. So he may more likely to be heading to Geelong or Port.

Think he'll end up at Port if they are able to fit him in.

Play him as a 3rd tall/ wingman and let him use his talents on the outside to complement the inside players like Ebert, SPP, Wines and most likely Rockliff.

Other than Sinclair all of those were pre-2010.

Here are the players we've brought in since 2010 from other clubs, via trade, draft or free agency.

- Andrejs Everitt
- Matt Spangher
- Mitch Morton
- Tony Armstrong
- Tommy Walsh
- Kurt Tippett
- Lance Franklin
- Jeremy Laider
- Tom Derickcxcxkxcxk
- Callum Sinclair
- Michael Talia
- Shaun Edwards

Not exactly a great lineup (Franklin notwithstanding).

Yep.

And the only complete busts in there would be Talia, Edwards and probably Walsh (Which we paid absolutely nothing for)

Everitt, Morton, Tippett, Laidler all played a role for us.

As I stated earlier, Spangher & Derickx were never more than depth/cover.

Thanks for validating my post.

Compared to our previous decade where we recruited All Australians and premiership players as cast offs from other clubs (Craig Bolton, Jolly, Richards, Mattner, Shaw, Kennedy, McGlynn, Mumford). That's how we developed our well earned reputation as being the best in the league at recruitment from other clubs. It's a step down when we just get guys 'playing a role'.

Fair enough.

Could Tippet be used as a pure ruck?

Yes. He has previously from 2015 onwards, and despite popular belief, he had great success as a #1 ruck. He hit career high form and his body (and the Swans rushing him back 3 out of 3 times) has let him down ever since he tore his hammy against GWS in 2016.

It's an interesting list.

But other than Tippett and Buddy (who we targeted) all the others were basically lifelines thrown to players being cut from their previous lists.

Laids and Everitt played plenty of games as spak filler until permanent solutions presented themselves.

Morton helped us win a flag.

Actually not fussed with these signings.

In 2010 the Swans started their Academy program, significantly changing their long-term recruitment strategies. That was followed by the 2 year trade ban after Buddy came on board. It's not surprising that the trade/FA haul since 2010 is very different from the decade before, the club was working in a very different environment.

Having been given his marching orders, Watts toured the Port Adelaide facilities. Can't confirm he met Kochie.

Rumour mill has been stirring up all sorts of noise about Watts to the Swans. Its not exactly new news, with whispers and murmurs, and a fair bit of wish listing since July.

However, having blogged and casted about it about a month ago, long before it broke as a legitimate rumour/connection, Mitch Cleary on AFL Trade Radio confirmed the link, and its gone into overdrive ever since.

Discussed at length on trade radio, rohan connolly discussed it on his normal afternoon bit and its going to get a run tonight no doubt.

For the Watts trade to happen, the Swans will need to cut Tippett.

Bang on the money again. Pay attention Swans fans.
