Hey guys, I'm presenting this award on behalf of Grav who unfortunately is retiring and couldn't make it tonight. I just wanted to quickly say that you've been absolutely amazing in your short time here. Your banter is always top quality with great comedic timing and you do a brilliant job with pictures and gifs, the thought you put into your posting is a breath of fresh air over the past couple of seasons and I hope that some day you'll find your way back here.

Anyway, the Macca Medal is the Swamprats posting contribution award named after Macca19 the Swamprats games record holder. This season we've had a wealth of great contributors in both match threads and around the league and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

From Grav:
==================================================
Wow! What a season and what an incredible amount of posters.

We had the Bash Brothers, we had spam,

We had memes, funny pictures and gifs.

Posts full of quality, some intelligence and a lot of banter,

then we had the quantity including all the likes.

We farewelled Gray Day, never to be seen on BF again.

Then sadly we said goodbye to drazah a favourite son, who passed away.

Hope your now at peace mate, we still think of you every day.

RIP

Back to the more pressing moment on choosing the S24 Macca Medal,

with so many top posters, this years selection committee had to decide by using a different system and have come up with this years winner in................

===================================================

That's all we've got for the Macca Medal for this season. Usually this is the part where we heap praise upon the winner but I really don't feel like doing that because I have to do it for Ant Bear every Best and Fairest. Also, I've already given him a blowjob in the MVP writeups so since we've got a bit of time I suppose I'll just go off-script and roast Ant Bear for a bit, that's always fun.

Once again a warm welcome to ant555 and GotTheGoodes. Since you both will have the 'pleasure' next season of playing under the Ant Bear captaincy I'll give you some pro tips. First thing you need to be prepared for is to put up with constant posts about how great Nickelback is, AB is one of the biggest Nickelback fans you'll see, probably the only one in the league. You'll also need to become fond of dabbing because he's a dabber as well. This is not some kind of running joke, he's admitted to owning two Nickelback albums and we have photographic evidence of him dabbing which also tells us he has a rapidly receding hairline. Also, another hint. Don't hold out any hopes of playing ruck-rover any time soon, I once convinced Millky95 to move me to Ant Bear's favourite position at his expense and he was not happy at all about playing at CHB :D. We still think that was the beginning of Millky's downfall really. Don't give him reasons to talk about the Season 22 Mobbs Medal, he polled 28 votes that night and won, and I've heard about it 28 times a week ever since. And finally, put him on ignore in his milestone games. Check this season's Las Vegas Bear match thread and you'll thank me for it.

Thanks for the fantastic season all, I love you all and stay safe over the holidays. :hearts:
Sounds like sage advice... Thank you.

ROUND 12

(Written by sportsmaniac89 )

With the emotion of drazah’s passing continuing to drive the club on not to mention the hashtag#doitlikedrazah we arrived at the Underground looking to finish off a season that no longer had finals on the horizon. Amazingly we opened the game with one of the most emotional moments that the club has seen

1 : 1.19 {lHFF} - drazah signals for his teammates to present.
1 : 1.26 {lHFF} - drazah attacks the goalface.
1 : 1.3 {lHFF} - drazah splits the sticks.
Sin City Swamprats : 1.0.6
Coney Island Warriors : 0.0.0

This moment spurred us to open up a 20 point lead before the Warriors woke up to make the game interesting. Despite their waking up, we held firm to lead by 16 at quarter-time but it could’ve been so much more with inaccurate kicking spoiling the quarter. The second quarter saw the Warriors lift another gear however despite this, we held firm going into half-time with a 7 point lead and a real chance to #doitfordrazah. The Premiership Quarter lived up to it’s name as the Warriors who were still in the fight for a finals spot lifted and despite opening up a 15 point lead at the start of the third quarter, we were content to head to the pub and little wonder given they outscored us 5 goals to 2 to take a 13 point lead into three-quarter time. With the last quarter starting, we raised ourselves for one final crack and reduced the deficit to 8 points with 20 minutes left however sadly, the Warriors weren’t to be denied and they finished off the game far stronger to record a 21 point win and sink us to 2-10 on the season.

Our rucking star Max Minch had another monster game with 17 disposals, 15 hitouts and 2 goals and was backed up by drazah with 15 disposals and 3 goals and ShaunDuggan with 17 possessions and a goal.

Posting was also a bit down this week with only Ant Bear, Dingster and philreich registering over 50 posts.

Now it’s time to announce the second major award, the Captain’s Award. This is given by the captain of the team to the Swamprat who has contributed the most in assisting the captain.

I can’t praise my LG enough. Grav, sportsmaniac89, Cloud_ and Dingster have been available for discussion every time there has been an issue to ruminate over or vote upon. None have gone AWOL at any time, and if I thought it was appropriate, all 4 would receive this award, but there can only be one recipient.

From the moment Dingster came to the team, he has been an invaluable source of guidance and counsel to me. He immediately dove into recruiting, bringing katmanblue to the club, and has been active in all behind-the-scenes discussions. His experience in the league, and his network of contacts complement and enhance the club, and he has privately provided advice to many of the team.

With the departure of Butler, Dingster can be expected to be the ringleader of the #sackantbear movement going forward. But privately, I know that I have his full support and cooperation.

I thank Dingster for embracing the Swamprats and the culture of the club, and award him the Captains Award for S24

Speech.

The first major award of the evening goes to the best rookie for the club. In S24, we recruited 5 rookies – drazah, bergholt, NEGAN, Louis Slungpue and katmanblue.

We all know what happened on Friday, October 6th. It was with shock that we awoke to the news of drazah’s passing. Among the many tributes we discussed internally, the one suggestion that struck a chord with all of us was to name the Swamprat Rookie award in his honour.

From here forwards, the rookies award will be known as the drazah medal

Despite a stellar 50-post performance from katmanblue in round 2, there could only be one winner of the inaugural drazah medal. Please welcome to the stage… bergholt

37418.jpg

bergholt delivered a stellar rookie season, amassing over 300 posts at an average over 20, and holding his own against more experienced Qootiers. In fact, his best weeks of 70 and 51 posts both came against the most difficult opponent, the Hawks. He also delivered onfield, memorably kicking 9 goals in the practice match, a feat our experienced full-forward never matched in the regular season.

Well done on the drazah medal, bergholt. The Swamprats rookie award has been won by some of the biggest names in the league – Cloud_, Noobz0r and myself to name 3. You will be on the honour roll forevermore.

Wow, a serious honour. I can only say thanks!

Honestly, I would have preferred to lose this one by a nose to our departed mate. We'll raise a few more glasses in his memory tonight.

I'll have a big preseason and strive to improve both onfield and off for next year.

I love you Rats.

Next to take a seat in the interview chair was gaskin, our rescued Wolf cub

89099.jpg

Hello, gaskin. It's been your first season with the Swamprats - how have you enjoyed yourself?

It has been a blast to be honest. Coming from the Gumbies where there would be 3 posters a week if you were lucky to a team where most players post at least a couple of times a week has been great. I do wish I had been more active but what is done is done.

You were recruited from the Gumbies last season. How did you find your way into the SFA, and what impacted your decision to move to Sin City after one season?

I had always seen the SFA advertised around the place and figured I would check it out and give it a shot.

Just after the last season finished, Ant Bear contacted me and asked if I would be interested in moving to the Swamprats. I told him I was going to wait and see what was happening with the Wolves before making up my mind. About 3 weeks or so passed with no news so I decided to move to The Underground. Funnily enough, a couple of hours after I gave Ant Bear the news I would be moving, I received news on what would be happening with the Wolves for this season. If I had have received that PM earlier in the day I probably would have stayed at the Gumbies but I have no regrets about moving.

The Swamprats have an undeserved reputation as spammers. Did you ever feel under pressure to keep up?

I feel that reputation is a bit harsh. If other teams had more players posting then there would be more banter instead of what could be considered 'spam'. I have never felt pressured to keep up and I just posted when I could.

Who has been your favourite team-mate this season and why?

I don't really have one. Each team-mate has been great. Yes it is a cliche answer but it is the truth.
You meant to say "Ant Bear, but you're too shy. It's ok, I understand.

You've been one of the more enigmatic Rats. Tell us a little more about the real gaskin - what your interests are away from Qooty, how you relax, who inspires you?

I like being somewhat of an enigma. All I will say is that away from Qooty I am a mid 20s Uni student studying to become a High School English Teacher. My interests are mainly to do with sport and music but I am also a bit of a gamer too.

Ok, thanks for the chance to get to know you. Do you have any words for the team tonight, to inspire us to greater heights next season?

Make sure you are all getting in a strong pre-season spending a lot of time at the pub. Butler is not with us anymore so extra effort is going to be required from everyone getting those drinks in.

Thanks AB and to all the Swampies for creating such a fun group to banter with. He had to say some kind words because I do have photos.

Seriously to Ant Bear you have my 1.00% support.

ROUND 13

NnxXNMh.png

DRA 4.7 8.9 12.11 18.12 120
SCS 2.1 5.5 8.6 11.9 75

Rematch with the Dragons, this time at their home Dragon Island. We got distracted by the pub at the pier and missed the first ferry, as the Dragons skipped to an early 24 point lead, but we dragged the margin within a kick during the second term. However, the Dragons steadied, and slowly drew away before putting on some percentage in junk time, as we returned to drinking games in the bar.

philreich had 16 touches and 9 tackles to add to his Mobbs tally, and ShaunDuggan was the only Swamprat to top 20 disposals. We all managed more than 10 disposals in the pub afterwards, so that was important. Our star full-forward Cloud_ was thrashed, recording no kicks in 100% game time, and at one stage staged a sit-down protest at the poor service from the midfield.

As usual, we refused to let the sim results stop us from having fun in the thread. I ploughed forward with another 80 posts, with staunch support from philreich, sportsmaniac89 and Dingster, as we had 11 of the top 14 posters for the week.

Awesome stuff Ding!!!!!

I had another trip to a undisclosed location where I came across our rucking hot shot, Cheval and had a chance to sit down while blowing some money on some crap multi picks (Seriously, don't bet on OKC in the NBA EVER!!!!)

SM89: Evening Cheval. I thought I would start off with a nice easy question to ease you in before some hard hitting questions.

C: Are you asking me if I'm easy?

SM89: I wasn't suggesting anything of the sort although I'll leave this alone before I dig myself another hole.

What attracted you to the SFA and more specifically, the Swamprats?

C: Miggs promised he’d marry me if I joined. He backed away after I made a commitment :'(

SM89: Early this season you were played in a variety of positions before the infamous #20changegate which saw you moved to the ruck and you then proceeded to have a rucking good season. How have you found the challenge of playing in the ruck?

C: At the start I was a little unsure and to be honest just could not be rucked.

It was only after I came up against KohPhi, giving him a thorough towelling, that I thought hey I’m a decent ruck after all. He was really good for my self-esteem!

At the end of that game I was exhausted, but from that point on I rucked well and continued to ruck with whoever I wanted, whenever I wanted!

SM89: This season saw us deal with that bratty kid Owen for a number of weeks. Some of us had some very interesting experiences with Owen and grew to dislike him; what was your experience in regards to Owen?

C: The results didn’t reflect on our off-field performance. For me that's more important. I didn’t care that we weren’t winning. It was like water off an alpaca’s back. It was really touching that we did it for drazah. Vale dude xx

SM89: Everyone in the league knows about Shazza and her involvement with the Swamprats however not as many are aware about the rumours of a dungeon that you own in Sin City. The rumour goes that this was where you kept FarKern this season. Can you tell us about that dungeon and the sorts of experiences one would have if they were in there? Also, will FarKern be released from the dungeon anytime soon?

C: In the dungeon there is lotion and there is a basket. There is a closet and there are some skeletons. It is a place where I reflect and inflict some pain on those that deserve it. And on those who beg. Most people who have been there have been lured in....and then there are some of the Bombers that just about broke down the door demanding to be let in.

Far Kern is having such a great time, he never wants to leave. I practice all my new stuff on him.

SM89: Some people may know this about you however others may not but you are our resident cop on the beat. If you had the chance to arrest 3-5 people from across the SFA, who would you arrest and why?

C: I tried to keep this quiet but the truth is out there. I reckon most players in the SFA would enjoy having my handcuffs on their wrists, so I’ll deny them all. I'll save that s**t for the dungeon.

SM89: You started off as MaxMinch before changing your name to Cheval. What is the significance of that name change?

C: True story alert! I created an online profile using my porno name (first pet, first street) and I learned how easy it is to find stuff out about other people. Be afraid mofos!

I am not readily searchable on the WWW and I’d like to keep it that way. My name is not dissimilar to my old username ... plus it was time for a change.

I chose the name Cheval because it’s the French translation of horse. As your next question shows, I don’t mind a punt!

SM89: It is known that you like to bet on horse racing and are quite successful in your betting. If you had a chance to run your own betting company, what would it be called and what would you encourage people to bet on?

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Maximum Bet!

People would be encouraged to only bet wisely and within their means. Minimum bets would be $1000 and we would bet only on major race events, football, soccer, tennis, golf, tiddly winks, 2 flies crawling up a wall, what colour car is about to come over that rise, what colour underwear I will be wearing (if in fact I will be wearing underwear).......

SM89: Finally a few fast questions

Parma or Parmi?

C: Parmi

SM89: Pineapple on pizza or not?

C: Pineapple- but not from a can. And anchovies!

SM89: #SackAntBear, yes or no?

C: #Farkenoath

SM89: Summer or Winter?

C: Winter

SM89: Party Animal or Quiet Night at Home?

C: I swing both ways

SM89: Last but not least

If you could recruit one person to the Swamprats, who would it be and why?

C: There are a few I'd like. I Don't Care has a certain something something and I feel his spiritual home is the Underground.

The Bombres threesome (in so many ways!). KohPhi, Coach, and TonyLynn would all be good pickups.

But I like Yakker. He’s new, enthusiastic and funny. And we love fishing. He’d talk about his tackle and I could tell him about the latest whopper I snared.

SM89: Thank you for sharing your thoughts Cheval, any last words for the faithful?

C: Quite possibly my last words for the faithful ...

I am considering making S24 my last for a while. Or at least until things change.

People of the SFA ... be funny and smart and cheeky and rude, but don’t act like dicks, don’t bully and harass in packs and don’t wreck other people’s experience.

According to one poster I am a mental paraplegic. You be the judge. Is that funny, or witty, or cheeky or rude?

It's none of those things. I didn’t sign on for that s**t. I cop enough of it in real life.

Max out.

What I would like to add is that Cheval hasn't made a final decision as yet, however I'm sure I speak for all when I say how much we value Cheval's contribution to the club and hope that she stays for many seasons to come.

I'm surprised you can run that far and straight at this stage of the night.

You know what, I was quite shocked at that as well however I found the true story of Haydo's adventures

(Written by Dingster )

R14 vs East Side Hawks

Sin City Swamprats 16.9 (105) lost to East Side Hawks 18.6 (114)

The Week That Was

The week Sporty took on the Hawks. The bitter war of words even took it's toll on Cloud_ who took aim at the Warriors. AB had a crack at bergholt and Power Raid stopped liking posts. The SFA world had gone mad.

One of the @ShaunDuggans gave Sporty some advice...
433449_d4534ebc4ce898e2acc3186b9360670d.jpg

But it was Cloud_ who had the right idea....
reverend.jpg

Game Time
The Hawks got off to a good start kicking the first two goals before AB kicked an appropriately ugly goal. Goals to NEGAN, Cloud_ (2), philreich and drazah made for an entertaining first quarter where scores were level. The Hawks kicked four goals to three in the second quarter to take a narrow lead at half time.

However eight goals to four in the third blew the game open. That one bad quarter would prove costly as the Swampies kicked the only two goals of the final quarter to show some character in a nine points loss.

Cloud_ kicked four goals. NEGAN, Fizzler, Ant Bear, gaskin and drazah kicked two. Max Minch, gaskin and Ant Bear all had over 20 possies.

Between the Posts
Sporty dominated posting cracking the ton. ShaunDuggan, Ant Bear and Bergholt had over 50 each in a lower posting week overall for the Swampies.

VOTES:
gaskin 25
Ant Bear 20
philreich 9
Cloud_ 8
MaxMinch ( Cheval ) 6
Dingster 5
bergholt 2

Before the final 2 rounds are read out, please welcome to the stage the band you've all been waiting for... NICKELBACK!!
