I can’t really say given I wasn’t born until late into the 80’s era Hawks run.

Modern era Hawks had modern sports science and professionalism on their side. While the 80’s era Hawks didn’t have a salary cap or draft to slow them down.

It’s hard to compare based on such a difference in the way the game was during each era.

It’s just too hard to split two of the best dynasties in footy history...

What a luxury to even be discussing this.

Nostalgia of the 80s growing up overrides recent glories.

No logic to this at all.

Realistically too many variables to compare.

One constant though: the joy of letting opposition clubs understand who has dominated the league for 6 decades.

Im going with the K Man

It's ridiculous.

Other clubs celebrate a single flag knowing it might be the last one they ever see.

Some have a good patch which may include a second flag (Sydney, Adelaide in the 90s, Essendon).

But we have two periods of 4/5 flags that a lot of us can remember, that we get to muse over which one was better.

What a club.

Given Shane Crawford was recruited in the 1991 draft who claims him? 83-92 claims him as a rookie or does the 07-16 team claims him as a veteran?

Shane Crawford was drafted at the end of the 1992 season hence was never part of that group, i'd even so it's a stretch he was part of the 07-16 group.
Other than playing in the 2008 flag, no different to putting Chip in the team or anyone from the 80s that was part of one or two flags

When I think about that eras best team Shane had been retired for 5-6 years and didn't play with 2/3 of the 2014 grandfinal team so I find it difficult to place him in that team.

Dont know if this has been done. Was curious to see who would win from the best players available from their respective era's. I made 1 requirement, that the players had to have played in at least 1 premiership for their respective sides.
The 83-92 team won 5 premierships, made 8 grand final appearances. The 07-16 team won 4 premierships with 5 grand final appearances. While I expect both teams would win in their respective era's due to constant rule changes, I think it would be interesting if their was a hybrid of the rules between the era's. These are the teams I've selected.
